Description
This is Ferrus Mane, Primare of the Iron Hooves on the fields of Istvaan V (I'm not sure if there's a more pony-ish version of the place.). Definitely my favourite Primare at the moment, she's just so... well, she's massive and she's got a big hammer thing, yay!
Was just trying to get myself back into the groove of doing CG paintings, and I think it turned out all right. Critiques are most welcome, as I'm trying to improve one of my weaker areas of art. ^_^
-----
On another note, if I did do another Primare, who should it be?Β Also, if I put this up for prints, would anyone buy it? Cheers. XD

So awesome! You probably guided by an official model from Forge World, dont you?)
And about next Primare - may it be Corvus Corax!

Thanks! And yes, Forgeworld is the definitive source for my Primares, if only because GWs own illustrations and people's conversions vary so wildly.
Corvus Corax, eh? I might just be tempted to do that, although his loadout is a bit of a mystery for me. Does he have:-
a) A single Power Claw, a three-headed Power Whip and a Heavy Bolter?
b) A pair of Power Claws and a three-headed Power Whip?
c)Β A pair of Power Claws, a three-headed Power Whip and a Heavy Bolter?

As i know, the first option is the closest to truth. At least, its what might be seen on arts.

Could make the power whip a mane or tail attachment.Β Of course that could turn ugly really fast.
Having three weapons could get clunky.
Would you go for pegasus wings, mechanical wings, or jump pack? (Or did Crovax slow down his own chapter)

I'm pretty sure I can figure something out, but the point of contention seems to be whether or not Corvus Corax had one Lightning Claw or a pair of them? The sole two official artworks of him contradict the other in that regard.
I would definitely imagine her with armoured wings, because she's badass. In fact, I'm probably on the fence right now between the idea of Assault Marines consisting purely of pegasi flying with armoured wings or the implementation of jet packs on them.Β

The smiling pony faces on the armour look off to be honest. They just don't fit in my opinion :/
Other than that, great piece of work! Love it!

It's kinda an idea I gleaned off John Joseco at some point. It seemed natural that before the heresy, ponies would have this sort of gilded pony faces rather than skulls, to match their overall enthusiasm of the world. After the heresy though, ponies would be much more jaded with the whole idea of mortality and will feature more skull motifs, a sign of the decline of their faith in goodness and cheer.

Hahaha. I was wondering what would you do with the 'manus', as they have none. This works well ^^
Also, dat armor. The back-mounted servoarms is the best way any pony would carry weapons. May we see more of it on the future?

Definitely! She still has iron hooves, but the whole mane pun was too good to pass up! XD
Although I like servoarms as much as the next guy, I feel the back-mounted ones should be reserved for those who need it. Techmarines, Techpriests and Iron Fathers, to name a few.
Do check out my attempt to solve that very conundrumΒ here .
