i always loved chris metzen's drawings in Tides of Darkness , and i see the resemblance on this one. My only complain is about the hammer, i think an axe would fit better, but hey that's just me! I would love to see more of your work related with WII characters

Orgrim Doomhammer used the Doomhammer, a hammer, that hammer.

So hard to find anything visual relating to these two fighting. You didn't disappoint. I'm a bit sad that the Doomhammer itself doesn't resemble the old Warcraft II artwork but this is a splendid picture. I love the look on Lothar's face. It's almost as if he knows he's doomed.

Eh? Its depicted as having been a pretty even fight.

I'm well aware. "A titanic duel" it says on the wiki or something to that effect. It's just that Doomhammer won that battle. That's why I said it the way I did. I've also been Horde since Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness so I'm a tad biased ^_^; I am beginning to like the Alliance more now that the current lore situation is the way it is, and I'm also rather fond of the Alliance in WCII. I've just disliked it since the beginning of WoW and onwards.

Well, Doomhammer won that battle, but winning that battle - barely, from what the stories say - lost him the war. He expected the Alliance to break, likely because the Horde would have had HE Fallen. Instead, they got pissed.

Β

As for the Alliance and the Horde... hmmm... I preferred the AllianceΒ in WC2, preferred the Horde in WC3. WOW... I always found that taking the Forsaken in the Horde was a very strange move for them, and keeping them after they massacred a whole valley, after they made it clear that they still intended to wipe the living out? Even stranger.

Β

Then there was the wiping out of Theramore - a stupid move which turned one of the most powerful spellcasters in the world from a pro-peace activist to a ferociously anti-Horde leader. In fact, the whole Garrosh thing kinda killed most of the sympathy I had for the Horde. Yeah, many of them fought back when things really became horrible, but none of them fought very hard until Garrosh became genocidal. Thrall and many others let things slide until things were out of control. Theramore and many other things could have been prevented had they acted.

Β

And at the end of it, it was Varian Wrynn, the leader of the Alliance, declared the war between the two powers at an end. Wrynn, so anti-Horde, calling an end to the conflict, putting his people ahead of his own desires.

Β

I started to find the Alliance the cooler faction after that.

Doomhammer could have conducted that war a lot more intelligently. He should have helped Gul'dan get the Eye of Sargeras, used that to wipe the Alliance out, and then have Gul'dan assassinated. He's not the brightest orc is he? At least he rallied them enough to make the Horde viable for Thrall. Ah, well. That's my take on it anyways. Doomhammer's a decent fighter but he should have let Blackhand conduct the war instead of assassinating him prior to the Second War's beginning. Blackhand was better at it.

I agree. Taking the Forsaken in is head-scratching. I guess Thrall and Sylvy are buddies but... after the whole "wipe out the living" bit, why is she still around? The current Horde leaders, even Lor'themar, aren't very fond of her. I guess they keep her around out of necessity now.

As much as I like the idea of Theramore being a crater, I can agree that pissing Jaina off wasn't the smartest thing to do. I initially liked Garrosh. Then he went WAY too far. Thrall let things slide too much. I'm glad Vol'jin's warchief now. He'll do a better job because he understands what the Horde needs. I guess the orcs have a trend of either letting too many things get out of hand and/or causing things to get way out of hand. It's a good thing the new warchief isn't an orc. They've done too many things wrong to warrant getting another shot at the position.

I used to hate Varian with a passion. He earned my respect after the Siege of Orgrimmar and Garrosh's downfall. I can't say I still detest the Alliance now that I think about it. They've grown on me because Varian's grown. My heart just lies with the Horde.
