Description
ForI wanted in on the magic paint.
So Anther helps out Nugget here. Anther is doing all he can to keep himself busy to distract himself while Hearth and Staccato are away. It is the little joys in life right now that are keeping his spirits up.
Originally I was just going to post a sketch. Then I decided I would do a glorified... then somewhere along the way... I decided I would just try something completely different.
I'm trying to make an attempt at (mostly) line-less art here. I was stepping pretty far out of my comfort zone with this because I pretty much have been sticking mainly to lineart until now. I hope to try to do more in this style in the future because this is a really neat style when done right, and I can only get better with practice.
I welcome any constructive feedback. Perhaps any tips you may have for line-less art and such.
That's all for now, though! Mission 8 won't be a big affair, I need to buckle down and really get some schoolwork done!

I believe it turned out really good! I could almost say you've been doing lineless for a long time xD
The only thing that jumps to my eyes are the leaves. Like, I know they're hard to get right, but they still jump out for me. Otherwise, I think you got the wall of stone and the cave pretty well!

Yeah, the leaves did turn out to be trouble for me. I'll need to see how I can get to addressing that.

Hey, paint lines, I like! It kinda gives it that soft, storybook-ish quality without losing clarity. If anything, I think this actually works better for trying to capture the glow of the light wafting out around that box.
(And amgad, that Diglett. So tiny and stubby and derpy. I find myself both quietly squealing at that stumpy cuteness and mildly disturbed that I have a sudden Whack-a-Mole twitch. ಠ_ಠ)

Thanks! It was tough but hearing you say that means the work really paid off!
lol, Diglett is perfect for wack-a-mole!

You are absolutely welcome! :3 And at least you seem to have enjoyed the process! I daresay that's the most important thing.
Indeed, maybe it's something to do with the curvature of their heads, or the speed in which they can pop up out of--IMEANWHAT. When did I ever suggest that, sir! I will have you know that I have naught but the utmost respect for our tiny, brown, burrowing fellows! (Or maybe they're just even more tempting targets from so high up. "Dive-bomb dropdown landing" is the same as "whacking", right?

Woooah, I didn't see this until now! I like the texture you used (I have no idea how textures work, but I want to try it out one day).

Textures are so much fun to work with! It really fiils in some spaces that would have otherwise been bland or felt incomplete IMO. This is a trick that I learned on photoshop. What I do is I put a white layer on the very front of everything, then set it to overlay. Then I go to the 'layer styles' and select texture overlay, which allows me to choose from various textures and manipulate the transparency and blending to my liking. It is something I find myself doing more and more often lately.

I really love this style and I'm happy to see you trying new things. Without lines, contrast matters a lot more, so perhaps a less intense brown for the dirt path would have helped the characters stand out a bit better.

It's true, I was having a bit of trouble picking out a colour for the path. I had so many colours of brown around there already that finding a new distinct one was tough. I'll keep that in mind for future works, though.

Wow! You really think so? That's great to hear!
I'm glad I decided to do it this way instead of uploading just a sketch.

If you still have the sketch lines to this, I'd be interested in seeing that too. Maybe put it in scraps.

I wonder which move he will get, I mean, he can even learn Fire Blast in that way!

Thank you!
Anther won't be using it. He'll be putting it straight into storage until the rest of the team returns.

Ya gotta wonder why there are so many treasure chests full of paint and other stuff in those tunnels. Ah well, that's why they're called Mystery Dungeons, I suppose (even though they're technically not MDs at all? x3)
Looking forward to seeing how you plan to use that Magic Paint o wo

With all these Pokemon helping out, Nugget will have a booming business in no time!
It will be some time before the paint gets used. For now it is going straight into storage!
