[Author's note: I don't really intend for the writing here to be a masterpiece or anything. I just intend for it to be enough to be able to move the story along.]
[Artist's note: I used a new brush for the shading. Can you tell? I also tried usng less lines than usual. This can be mostly noticed on Zulu, the Zebstrika. usually I would have lines separating each colour on his body, but not this time. Anyway, depending on how much time I have, I am not sure if I will continue the post mission with this look. We shall see how motivated I am feeling.]
The darkness of the artificial night was as thick and oppressing as ever as Hearth hurried on back to Tao Village. It seemed as though every few steps she took she was confronted by a tree, or a bush, or sometimes, even a deceased Zoroark which blocked her path. Why, why, why did this seem so much easier when she was heading the other way?
Of course, she knew the answer to that question. The reason was heaped over her back. Hearth had been the one to kill Eclipse the Zoroark. Not so much by choice, but rather out of desperation. Once the grisly work had been done, she had found herself ambushed by several more Zoroark, who had tried to take one last swing at her before retreating. It was then that Camellia had jumped in the way, protecting Hearth, and taking out one of the Zoroark, but at the same time, taking a gouge right to the chest.
There was only one reason why Camellia had done this. It had been ordered from Anvil, the Luxray, a Pokemon who seemed to take particular interest in Hearth, to ensure Hearth's safety. It still shocked Hearth to find that Camellia was actually willing to throw her life away in order to carry out this command. Now Camellia was sprawled over Hearth, as she desperately tried to carry her back to the village to get medical attention as quickly as possible.
This was easier said than done, though. All of the activity so far today only added to the strain that her broken leg was already under. Not only was it excruciating to walk on, but it simply could not bear her full weight any longer. As Hearth limped along, she felt the blood trickle from Camellia's wound and down her flank, leaving a crimson trail behind her. All this bumping and jostling Hearth did as she tried to move could only be making the wounds worse. At this rate, Camellia would be dead before she even reached the town! What would Anvil say? Maybe he would change his mind about her. It was only earlier that day that he had proposed to her that she stay in the past with him. At first the idea was absurd, but some very dramatic and emotional events since then made the idea seem much more appealing. She was hoping to tell him she would stay with him after all. But would he actually accept her if she killed his companion in the process?
It was something that she didn't want to think about. And honestly, she felt it was her fault that Camellia has sustained these wounds in the first place. She was positive that if she had been more careful, this could have been avoided.
As she walked, her hoof caught another snag, causing her to stumble somewhat. "Damnit!" she cried, as pain shot up through her leg, and more of drops of blood could be heard hitting the grass.
"Hearth!" A voice called from behind. "Is that you?"
The voice sounded familiar. When she turned to see who it was, she found herself gazing upon two large Pokemon, both of whom she recognized. Zulu the Zebstrika, and Crimson the Druddigon. Both members of rescue teams who had also found themselves stuck in the past.
"Hearth!" Zulu said. "What's going on? What-" He cut himself off as his eyes fell upon Camellia. "What happened to her?"
"There's no time!" Hearth yelled frantically. "Please! Take her back to the medics as fast as you can! She's dying and I can't make it in time!"
Zulu and Crimson exchanged looks before nodding and moving in to take action.
Despite having great sharp claws, Crimson took great care to gently lift Camellia off of Hearth's blood-soaked back, and lower her carefully onto Zulu. The process was quick but steady. Once Camellia was safe and secure on Zulu's back, he turned to Hearth. "Don't worry Hearth, I'll get your friend there as fast as I can." With that, he quickly bolted back towards the village.
A wave of relief overcame Hearth as she watched. At least she knew that Camellia was in better hooves than her own now. She still wasn't sure if she would survive, but at least her odds had increased.
"What about you?" Crimson asked from beside her. She turned to face the large dragon to see a look of concern gazing back at her.
"Better now... But..." She hesitated as she tried to move, but her leg gave in, and she toppled over on the ground. "Damn it... damn it all. Damn this leg... Damn my life..."
"C-c'mon, don't be like that Hearth!" Crimson said, somewhat flustered by this outburst. "You can't walk like that. Let me carry you."
He proceeded to kneel down, and lift her, once more using his large strong arms. He held her holding both his arms forward, as if her were carrying a large log. Not the most efficient position she could think of, but she was not in the mood to complain, anything was better than having the weight taken off her leg. As he moved through the trees and bushes, she finally felt like she was able to take a rest. At least for a little bit.
To be continued...

No probs!
Well Hearth isn't in any danger. Camellia is the one who has her life on the line right now. I guess only time will tell to see whether she will make it or not.

Hearth is so lucky to have two familiar faces run into her and Camellia. Trying to carry someone on the brink of death with a broken leg is never a pleasant sight! O_O
And oh wow! Less lines? I've noticed that on Zulu too. It almost seems like you've started taking into account how I draw lineless details on my characters...almost like our Event 7 collaboration effort paid off for the both of us.

Yes, they are both very very lucky indeed.
Perhaps it did. It is something I've seen in many peoples art for a while now. And of course, sometimes lines are not even necessary to show a difference when all a person needs is contrast in colours. Honestly, I do not know why I didn't start doing this sooner.

Must be a new chapter that's being written in the book of art then! Honestly, I've been getting really far out of my comfort zone by trying new things I never would've otherwise imagined.

Indeed! It sure was lucky for Hearth that two strong able bodied rescuers were close enough to hear her and decided to investigate. ;D
But yeah... RUN ZULU! RUN! (And I hope you don't mind getting your fur stained a bit... ._.)
