It had been since the competition. The last time they met. And Nara was really worried. Missy, the funny and joyful mare used to stand on the meadows and watch an uncertain point somewhere in the distance. Jake tried to play with her every now and then. But no matter how often he gave her a friendly neigh or touched her, she just looked at him and glanced back to her point.
Missy picked up some grass and sighed. How could she ever be happy? Above her, the birds were heading south, on to warmth and comfort against the cold of winter. That’s it! That was her only way! She snorted and looked arround. But where to go? How could she find him? She closed her eyes and listened to the voice inside. It told her to go north. And so she went north.
Days went by as she ran further and further. She ran till she couldn’t take any step further and slept. Every day the same. Sometimes humans saw her and even tried to catch her, but she just dashed off them and onwards. Her heart was telling her, she was getting closer each day.
The day she arrived at TPS was a stormy and cold day. Snow was everywhere she looked and stepped was snow. Cold and wet the snow lay on the ground, and fell from the heavy clouds. And inbetween Missy. She was a pity to look at. Her once so shiny black coat was dirty. Mane and tail where full of little sticks and dirt, looking fuzzy and also no shine was in them. She was dangerously thin and could hardly walk. Snow was covering her back, but she hadn’t got the strenght to shake it off. But like a somnambulist she kept walking. At the gates of the stable she stopped. The smell of him was all arround. Closing her eyes she gave a nearly recognisable neigh. Calling for him. And one of happiness. She was finally there. Her legs were shaking and finally giving in. Her body thunk on the ground and she breathed hardly. The cold snow felt like a soft meadow full of the sweetest grass to her.
Finally. Her dream, to be with him just for once had come true. He was here, somewhere... and so she fainted leaving the snowy day behind a curtain of darkness.
And slowly the snow began to cover her...
