Description Result of boredom and random desire to attempt a tutorial as a challenge.

If you use this please reference it.

*** *** ***

This was my first real attempt at a tutorial.

My apologies if this doesn't really make sense; I was running out of room on the page and had to merge some steps together which probably made it confusing, especially on the wings and feet. Not my best drawn dragon, and probably a poor example of anatomy - I screwed on the feet a bit because I'm not used to drawing dragons facing left.Β

Was this any help to anyone? If so would you be interested in seeing any other tutorials? I might consider doing a sketch dump of different dragon postures, without the step-by-step thing, but with different colours to kind of show how I did it. Maybe. If you draw this leave feel free to let me know or leave a link to your piece if you want me to have a look at it.

ALSO - if you use this as a base/use the tutorial, please reference me/this submission. Thank you.

Hello Saphire Dragon,
your tutorial is really interesting!
Do you allways procede like this, when you design all your wonderful dragons?

By the way, I've been meaning to ask you: Do you draw a pencil sketch on another sheet first, or do you allways start with the actual drawing straight away. I never see any pencil left overs on your drawings.

Thank you kindly, it was a first attempt so I'm glad some people like it.

Sometimes, but unless I'm really stuck on a pose I skip a lot of the steps, or sometimes I just draw a head or limb etc.

I usually sketch in pencil first and then erase it on the same piece of paper. Although with this dragon I did a sketch of the finished dragon on normal paper and then traced it on Letraset paper to show the different steps. =3

No worries, I usually find dragon eyes fun to draw although I find different (happier) expressions more of a challenge. Good luck if you try to decipher this! ;3

Thank you, it was my first attempt at a real tutorial, it took a bit longer than I thought it would. I might do a sketch-dump in the future of just different poses rather than step-by-step as lots of step demonstrations took up a lot of space. =/

I did a basic drawing of the dragon on ordinary printing paper, and then I used Letraset marker paper for the actual tutorial. The paper is sturdy but it is also a bit transparent so it was good for retracing relevant steps for the dragon. Helped me cut back on time, and consistency too. Used an A3 sheet but I guess the dragon itself was too big for a lot of steps. =/
