if you're really keen on making your own rig for saph, find someone that does professional rigging and ask them to show you the basics/intermediate stuff so you can rig her the way you want
i personally am going to try rigging when we do it in class (next yr earliest) and if i struggle, i'm going to ask someone outside of the class to help me out or to do my rigs for me since i'm not very patient

i'm sure there are people out there that rig for max if you search hard enough, but i know what you mean, maya being the most used (universal 3d program ?) is a bitch for so many reasons

hehehe have you tried looking in 3d forums ? i'm certain there will be at least one person willing to rig (and play) with saph but be careful that they don't steal her from you (or us)

well not really.. but then again im not really searching that active either.. rigging is a matter of doing it over and and over and over again.. and you will get better with it every time you do it.. you just have to get a feel of it.. in the beginning bones a placed completely in the wrong place so there is a lot of fixing up to do, but now already once im setting up the bone structure i know where to place them and what works best.. in a couple of weeks ill be doing this like a second nature

did you get the note i sent you yesterday ? it's a design book outlining everything related to design, modelling, rigging etc all done in 3ds max. the rigging section might be helpful to you depending on what they teach and what you already know
just thought you might be interested.

Uh, these are getting SO good.
Do you have to control it all manually or can you program some of the muscles? You know - not having to move every polygon.

SaphireNishi In reply to Limro [2013-04-07 18:21:23 +0000 UTC]
euhm.. well thats not really how it works.. what you do is create morph sets.. and then use morph and blend morphs together to create complete expressions.. so you dont have to move polygons around once the morph is done.. but setting up a morph requires moving of polygons..

Don't forget how crucial those ear and cheek-jaw muscles are, when you smile your ears, scalp, brows, and cheeks go up. You smile with your whooooole face

SaphireNishi In reply to Blindseer95 [2013-04-07 18:19:00 +0000 UTC]
well smiling is indeed a facial expression you do with yo whole face.. thats why i avoided the smile expression for now..

well I mean, similarly, most expressions utilize those muscles as well. I feel my ears move aaallll the time. XD but yeah... you never fail to impress me.

very good. You might want to put little pauses in so you can actually see the expression before it starts morphing into a new one. Just a thought.
And I don't want to even think about the plastic surgeon's bill for removing her long, beautiful ears.

Absolutely amazing ... incredible ... spectacular ... outstanding !!! I really love the cheeky wink in the middle of it all ... so many great expressions, the kissing lips, the wide open mouth (which I think I am definitely thinking the wrong idea about it ... bad man ... bad thoughts ) The movement is smooth and beautiful ... top marks to you
