No! No it wasn't! I can think up a whole scenario that could make what happens there be more tasteful and leave a better impact than just for pure "ZOMG THEY JUST DID THAT" lowest common denominator of shock value!

well, honestly, it kinda was needed. For sylvana to be a real threat, we had to see some sort of loss. Collateral damage seems to be missing through out most of that universe. the only other time we really saw anything threatening was when alistair was smashed. and even then, there wasnt much of a threat to that.

i mean, the point isnt to show struggle or defense, but loss and the looming threat that sylvana is. not necessarily the best way to show it, but gets the point across
