There were so many! For me, anyway. And yes, it's one of my favorite parts EVER. The book goes into even more detail, and explains how no other warrior of Men or Dwarves or Elves etc. had ever been able to stand against Shelob, and this tiny hobbit completely kicks her to the curb. It's so awesome!

Oh, well he has the Phial of Galadriel and Sting (both glow with their own light, and for a creature who lives in total darkness all the time, seeing them is pure torture. Plus, as they're relics of good, as it were, that's an added pain to things of evil. )

why is the spider evil? its gaint size so humeniod creatures are perfect food source.

It's not that all spiders are evil, but this one is. She is described as being an utterly evil creature (the last child of the even larger, completely evil spider Ungoliant) not because she's huge and a spider, but because she has chosen evil. She doesn't just kill for food, she loves to gloat over and torment her victims, and everything she does is done with hatred and malice. (It's kind of like the difference between Wargs and wolves. )

yes and no. i mostly disguess with other people who know his works. I am one of those guys , who when the explain something there a good chance you wont get have of what he's saying unless you know it.

That...would be kind of awesome, actually XD Shelob does speak, but in her own language. The book clearly describes her as being sentient, and not just out to kill because she's hungry, but because she enjoys causing pain and torment. I'm glad they didn't make her talk in the movies, though. That would have made her less frightening XD
