Description
Commission for of the characters from the first-person running app "Zombies, Run!" Sam Yao (left) is trying to confront Runner 5 calmly so she doesn't cut him up like a zombie with her axe. Runner 5 is a stand-in for the listener, while Sam is a character within the story provided by the app. Since the app doesn't have an official look for Sam or Runner 5, (and Runner 5 can be whatever the listener thinks they should be) , wanted to have her own version illustrated. She gave me basic info and then let me run with it. I'm rather happy with how they turned out.

I used photo reference, especially for Runner 5's pose, to make sure the way she was holding the axe was correct. Fittingly enough, the reference ended up being from a zombie movie (I couldn't tell you which one, but some chick was holding an axe. So, yeah. ) wanted them to be anime-style, so it's kind of half-realistic, with loose shading. I'll be doing more of these in future, so hopefully I can keep them looking right!
