Great tutorial!!! But I have a problem when doing the armature:
Every time I try to cover the wire with the aluminium foil, the foils breaks (its very weak!) but the worst is that the foil doesn't get attached to the wire, it slips! So when I put the clay in the foil it is just a total mess... What can I do? >_<

I've heard that taping the foil with not scotch or duct tape.. what is that tape called D: Β It's white and sort of fabricy feeling vs all slippery.. Well taping it with that helps keep it in place. Β When I had these issues I just sort of smashed some clay around it messily, because once you get some clay layering it, it tends to stay in place (or be much easier to work with)

Thanks for this useful tutorial, and that's such a cool sculpture!
Sorry if this is a stupid question, how do you smoothen the clay? Is there some kind of tool specific for that or do you just use your hands ?

This is helpful , but how would I make a breaking dancing wolf on one hand wearing clothes, you don't have to answer this if you don't want to.
π: 0 β©: 1
Sara121089 In reply to Cathasach [2011-03-21 01:08:05 +0000 UTC]
Well a break dancing wolf on one hand, that depends on the pose. You'll either need supportive rods to hold him up, or put him in a position with his weight even to where he won't tip over. You could also use a base, then nail his hand into the base, except you'd need an air drying clay to cover up the nail, etc etc. Now for clothes, if you want real cloth then you'd have to just sew some clothes and put them on him. If you wanted to sculpt clothes, then all you do is try to imagine how the clothes would hang off of the body, the wrinkles, and what not.
Thanks by the way

Could it possible to glue him to a base?
π: 0 β©: 1
Sara121089 In reply to Cathasach [2011-03-21 01:18:56 +0000 UTC]
it might be, all depends on how heavy he is in certain places. It would take a bit of testing that's for sure ^^
