Description
Another double side from my sketchbook. I noticed that I haven't drawn Akin except from his reference sheet, so I had to change that. He's my favourite OC (:He's the spirit of wind and sand and lives mostly in the desert or savanna. Those little birds around him always accompany him, because they're attracted by magic. Since Akin is a spirit, he's able to create and manipulate it. If you're interested, you can read more about his background here:

I used one of Colourize-Stock beautiful stocks for the main pose.

painted with watercolours, permanent fine-liner and white gel pen

It seems that you've got some good use for your sketchbook
That's worth showing around

epic, especially how you though to put sand and air together and the portrayal thereof in you usage of tones!

That's awesome! What species is that? I mean yeah I know that it's a fantasy creature but it looks interesting.

thank you so much! It's a creature I created and a mixture of horse and antelope. I don't have a name for this species yet, but I'll think of something

Nice! That made me remember something...once I created a mixture of a crocodile and a wolf but I have no idea what it looked like

This is beautiful! You have a wonderful handle on anatomy, and the character's design is simple and elegant. The almost oragami-esque birds are a really intriguing idea as well.

aww.. thank you so much for your kind words! Anatomy is one of the main things I really suck at, so I'm quite happy to read that the anatomy looks good!

oh Wow, I love this!!! Akin is really amazing and unique character, looks so interensting and beautiful!!! I really love simplicity of this piece - I love your colour choice, the contrast is very interesting and pleasant. The red grass is really gorgeous and the sky too, this shade of pale blue is just magical ^^. The salt effect is working really good here. (I dont know why, but it never works on my pictures ) And of course I love how you paint anatomy of your OC. Amazing!
PS: the birds are so lovely! ^.-.^

aww.. thank you soooo much for this long and most lovely comment!
I greatly appreciate your kind words! Yes I was surprised, too how good the salt effect worked on this thin paper. A friend from dA told me some tricks about using salt. You have to put it on in the right moment. I tried it out several times and it works best if you put just water on your paper that it's wet, then colour it. Then you have to wait until the right moment for the salt has come. It's when the paper is still wet, but not too much water is on top of your paper. (It's kinda hard to explain ) Nothing should move if you pick the paper up. The paper shouldn't be too thin and the crystals of the salt shouldn't be too small, too. I hope you get what I mean xDD
Oh and it works best with bluish colours, or at least it only really works with my blueish watercolours
