Description Mary Sue alert?

I'd never have put Sariel and Pearl together if it hadn't been for extensive prodding by my friends melusine and Miranda. I feel like it would hurt my legitimacy as a serious fanfic writer, particularly since most of my other charaters tend to meet horrible ends or traumatic challenges. Then again, being married to a woman who beats on miscreants in her spare time and has multiple personalities is probably not all it's cracked up to be either.

Many changes were made along the way from the original
picture, most notably bringing up the lines, recoloring Pearl, and adding in a background. If you're curious, this is actually being printed and sent. Spares are being made. Should anyone want one, all they'd need to do is send me a wedding invitation

Yayy, Gungrave! I should be on topic...

But yeah, I go for all of the underdogs too. I particularly love the SaGa series, ALL of the Mana Series even Seiken Densetsu 1 (Final Fantasy Adventure/Sword of Mana).

I realized just now that you are using established characters, from an anime I suppose, but unfortunately I am not familiar with them...

Amazing detail on the hair, the layers are great, I really need to study your stuff to improve my girls hair. The pose works well, very soft, gives a great feeling of emotion.

It looks like you went for soft shading on her body, but cell type shading on his suit...and he seems to have exceptionally small hands, as well.

Pearl is from The Legend of Mana (PS1). Sariel is a take-off of Rouge from SaGa Frontier (also PS1).

There is a prelim version of the card in the Scraps section; the color is somewhat different, and the guy's hands were even smaller there. So I did make some effort to fix it.

I really tried to like The Legend of Mana, but in the end I traded it in and just bought Secret of mana for super nintendo.... Love the artsyle in that game.

*laughs* seems you'd probably be someone I railed against ages ago. Well, I can't fault you too much for not liking it; much like with SaGa Frontier, reaction to the game is really polarized. Either you loved it or hated it. I've yet to see someone that was really neutral.

I never had a SNES, so I never played SoM. Square's hyper-rerelease kick may change that.

No, I really wanted to like it. I played it about 20 hours, but just wasn't liking it. I love the asthetics, and storybook feel, but hated how every location was seperated and disjointed....Love the amazing artwork though.

But hey, I usually go for the under dog....I like alot of games that usually get bashed and hated by the mainstream (P.N. 03, Bloodrayne, Tork, Gungrave)

good work. I like the coloring. (btw it's Cendrillo commenting here) Multiple personalities are interesing...

Haven't seen many male Mary-Sues (although I hardly think of this as a case of THAT blunder). So what would you call that, Michael-Sams? Mark-Steves?

Cheers to those who can write and draw, I'll never master that.

I dunno. You seem to do fairly well as a writer.

As far as what to call the Mary-Sue, I think it'd work better to stick with a
sort of everyman name, like John Henry. Fairly bland, and yet you can
see something perfect emerge from it.
