Description Snork Maiden was so very happy she had found the violet flower. When she was little, she'd been told that finding a flower in the middle of winter brought warmth.

It was rare for a Moomin to venture out during the winter season – most would much rather spend the white, cruel climate in deep slumber. Spring would surely be upon Moominvalley, no matter how late he was. Till then, they would sleep.

But as things had turned out, she had found herself lost deep within the snowy mountains of a vast terrain she no longer recognizes underneath all the deep, white mass that covered her beloved homeland. Their only shelter had been an abandoned, rocky cave as dark as a starless night sky.

She had snuggled up next to Moomintroll, holding an unusually-subdued Little My in her arms. The latter girl's big, tired eyes had watched her half-brother poke at the fire they'd all gathered around. Snufkin had looked up at her, and as if he had understood her silent complaint, had smiled softly: "Things are never as bad as they first seem to be, Little My. At least we're all together."

"I'm never forgiving you for this, Moomintroll." she had hissed dramatically.

It had been his idea, after all.

III

Never had Snork Maiden thought their impulsive head-out with Snufkin (against her better judgment, but Moomintroll had wanted to do it for such a long time) would get them lost, and never had she thought they would come face to face with the Winter Monster herself.

But most of all, never had she thought the Groke could smile so widely, like a kid who'd finally met another kid after being alone for a long, long time.

Snufkin had asked her politely what she wanted. She'd motioned for them to come out, and as they apprehensively stood around her, the sketchy nonsense she'd been scratching on the snow started to have meaning. The Groke's eyes were full of tears, but her mouth was wide in a smile.

Snork Maiden giggled and bent down to draw herself next to her friends.

Sadly, it's very rushed, and full of mistakes, but I didn't want to miss the deadline of 's contest.

This is adorable! The soft shading and light is perfect, and it's a nice change to see the Groke smiling. Still, she was my biggest childhood fear...

When I first saw her in the 90s anime as a little girl, I was terrified by her staring eyes! But then, when I realized how lonely she was, I couldn't help liking her

Yeah, same here!!! ^^ I don`t really find her that creepy anymore,
