Description Danger Mouse for those not in the know. And if you don't know what I'm talking about, you must have had a boring childhood filled with Saturday Mornings that consisted of such garbage as the Power Rangers, or Sherlock Holmes 2029 (or whatever the hell that P.O.C. was called). I had the great fortune of growing up with the likes of He-Man, Thundercats, Silver Hawks, GI Joe, Transformers, Jem, Denver The Last Dinosaur, Dinosaucers, Smurfs, Snorks, Rainbow Bright, Gummi Bears, and more...

...yeah, Danger Mouse was up there right alongside Count Duckula (both from Cosgrove/Hall Productions). Needless to say I was recently inspired to work on a series of fan-related artwork. Consider this piece one in a series, incomplete, or is it? I kind of like the negative space but had plans to drop in one of the following:

A) Baron Silas Greenback (w/Nero)
B) Stiletto

For those of you familiar with the series, your feedback will greatly sway my decision of who to place. Those who have no idea what the series is about, check it out. In the meantime...your words will help me decide to keep this as is, or go ahead and add an anchoring character to the right side of the piece.

Hope you all enjoy this one, it was a blast to crank out.

Grew up in the same era, so well aware. You know I found out there was also something called Biker Mice From Mars. Never saw it, but the title of the show was enough to send me into a fit of laughter, so if you're looking for some new mice to vectorize, i suppose you could give 'em a try.

Better late than never and your welcome! Those are the Shy Guys from Amrio 2? I remember getting that game for my 10th birthday in 1991.

That was their first appearance, yes. Easily my favorite Mario character as the name summed up my persona perfectly many years ago. I'm no longer shy, but I love the character ambiguity...so it stuck.

YES! Wow you pretty much summed up all my greatest loves.... NEEDLESS TO SAY DANGER MOUSE; one of my greatest loves of all. So what's happening with toons lately, really? None of them ever match up to the ones that are 20 years older, and probably never will. Not as long as animators are resorting to the cheap, effortless, 3D-rendured kaka to make a buck (some 3D stuff is cool, but there are only a few exceptions) As of late, I see better material on Newgrounds and DeviantArt as opposed to TV. Heck, I see better character development and treatment in fan art/fan fiction of existing shows.

LOL sorry for the long ramble/rant. This nostalgic trip brought out the talkative side of me.

good ol 80's cartoons..... how I miss them, fortunitly some are out on DVD... haven't found Denver or any others though. I can't really give much feed back on who he would be afraid of in your drawing... I dont remember him ever being afraid in the show. But You drew him really well. Great job.

Yeah you're right...he really wasn't ever affriad per'se...but I suppose just this once Baron would be best suited...with Nero in towe!

[pokes her head in] Somebody need a DM fan?

Hm... DM isn't really afraid of Greenback or Stiletto. He respects Greenback as an enemy, but otherwise hates him (actually, hate is a pretty good word to use there). I don't think he even fears Stiletto at all.

Mmm... they both work, in theory, but of the two, I'd suggest Greenback and Nero.

I'd love to see Stiletto, though. I like him. Nice work so far!

You have no idea how much I love this series. I've been waiting for a DVD release here in the US, and finally it's available. I would watch this every day, followed by Count Duckula. I was SO into the Brit toons it wasn't even funny, heh...memories.

I could probably tell...I dunno, anyone who saw this fell in love with it. It just offered something toons from that era didn't. I mean, who couldn't love an albino mouse and his hampster sidekick fight an evil toad with a rabid catarpillar and his crow sidekick. It's so absurd it HAD to work.

I loved Dangermouse - I was lucky enough to almost work on a Dangermouse videogame. We were shown round Cosgrove Hall and was great to see the place which I've seen the name of at the end credits of beloved animations. Sadly the videogame company I worked for completely messed up the deal - not the first time they messed up either.

Of course, the car they drove about in also kicked ass. Good work!

Hey James,

Glad to see that you are still alive. I never watched DM - but Ducktales was "hip" when I was young, being a bit younger than you I suspect that the fashion had changed meanwhile. I hope that you are in good shape and have fun. Here in Mannheim we currently have "Wahlkampf" / Election and therefore I am out canvassing all the time. Have a look at [link] - hope you like it.

Best wishes,

Felix

I liked Ducktales as well...and I'm sure you'd have dug Dangermouse if you were but a bit older to have caught it on the tele.

I am doing well, as I hope you are too. I've just been busy with work and getting my website running to my specifications (which still isn't happening). Thanks for the update on what's going on with you. You look like a man all about business in that shot

Take care Felix, hope to hear from you soon!

Excellent work my good man! I was fortunate enough to grow up round abouts the same time as you, when cartoons were cool! Dangermouse was a favourite of mine too! Baron Silas Greenback (w/Nero) would make the best BG I would say, prehaps with Penfold too?

SarshelYam In reply to Mr-FunnyFace [2005-06-06 22:33:04 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I might do Penfold in a similarly startled posture...mirroring DM while Baron GB looks on and Nero snarls from his shoulder!
