Reed in sphinx shape. Ary decided to stand on top of him for some reason. Not really sure why.I did a stupid thing and didn't bother referencing until I was basically done and it was too late for me to really change anything. oh well. Learned things. Not bad for my first Ary-sphinx. I had an attempt wayyy way back and I never finished it because I was struggling with liking anything I produced. I think I may have only finished a 10th of the things I started. I like how this turned out. Botchd Reed's colors a little bit but didn't want to go back and redo them. I used what I learned to make Ary turn out fine. Hahaha. (Essentially I got too detail focused with Reed and it ruined the natural smoothness of the simpler gradients and made them muddy looking. You can see how much smoother his colors are in my initial triad sampling of Reed sphinxes from last week.)
Allison, I promised you Ary in a speedo once. I'm going to deliver.

I'm gladddd. <333 It was so fun to work on. I've been wanting to do more art for all my buddies but I just started art school and I've been hellishly busy. They gave us industry standards so if I fail to turn into an assignment I get dropped from the class. A late assignment gets an F regardless of how good it is.

I love the anatomy of Reed's forequarters, and of Ary's hindquarters! Even though the poses are simple they still put across a sense of fun - although it's hard for me to see one character using another as a convenient perch as anything but fun c':

Ah thanks! I want to work on my poses a bit more again. They've been pretty boring lately. Not a lot going on in em. They seem to be reading really well though which is good

Lol, I think its that we're so used to seeing people with slightly darker hair than their skin color, so when we see the reverse it looks a little odd. Ary I think balances out because he's got his black lock skin.

Thanks! It's a pretty new technique to me and I'm still getting used to it but generally it's faster and more efficient than what I was doing before.
