EDIT: So I've been playing around with this a lot because I felt like it wasn't quite flowing together right before. I made a lot of changes. I made the background more interesting, with more color and value variation, and I think it blends the inky lines near the edges together a little better. I painted more values onto Orochi's faces, armor plates, and also Shiranui and Solar Flare so they glowing look is stronger. I added a lot more red, including blood, both to intensify the image and to better suggest the fury of the battle.
It looks a lot less like a traditional painting now, but I think it looks more coherent as an image. I would still love feedback and opinions on what you think. ^^

Edit 2: I just realized that the eighth head that was most definitely in the initial sketch somehow didn't make it into the final piece... must have been the lightning head, off in the clouds when I did role call. Silly lightning head.

I drew the initial sketch in my sketchbook and decided it would be a fun experiment for painting in Photoshop. I used some wonderful brushes by . Normally I find digital painting to be a pain, but expressive brushes like these are really fun to play with.

This probably took around five hours, including tracing the original sketch. Maybe even more. I didn't pay attention because I was having fun.
