I lay in your arms
and we talked
and you made me laugh.
You held me,
Told me I was beautiful,
Told me things no-one else knew.
Today,
As we drove,
You held my hand.
Your fingers interlocked with mine
The same way our bodies interlocked
Last night.
I felt happy,
And safe,
And free
As the wind blew through my hair
and made the tendrils tickle my nose.
Then I came home
and was alone again.
The fear started.
The paranoia grew.
I wonder if you'll hurt me again?
