As terrible as random acts of violence are, and as disgustingly frequent as they are, your sorrow and activism should be directed toward real victims of real crimes. This event has not been reported upon by any news outlet, credible or otherwise. When did this beating take place? Where? Who found Skye? Who brought her to the hospital? What were the nature of her injuries? Who has been detailed or questioned in connection to the beating? A witness who could repeat what her friends said while teasing her and share that info on twitter would surely be questioned in connection with the event, if only by the family of the girl...

Given that various media outlets have reported on 17 other beatings of young people within the last 36 hours the silence over this "victim" is odd to say the least. There are real victims out there, beaten by parents, siblings, boyfriends, dealers, bullies ... give them your energy. Be part of something real.
