Description *edit* resubmitted this piece. I've scanned on a new scanner **sparkles** and refined the painting itself.

A soft watercolour painting, depicting a floating wood nymph and a dryad. I could see this in a children's faerytale storybook... ahh I can dream XD

And what would the fairytale be about?
(except about the wood nymph and a dryad, that much I could figure for myself )

Something magical I suppose. I imagine it as a scene in a fairie tale book. So maybe the sprite is delivering a magical parcel to a Princess in distress, and the dryad is pointing the way...

You ought to write a story to go with it!

Hmm... I never thought of that.

I imagine if I painted more of these, that a sort of story would start to pop into my head... interesting thought!

SashaFitzgerald In reply to inkscribble [2008-03-30 23:41:07 +0000 UTC]

hmm.. I've been working on my portfolio for school, and I think a sort of short story board - maybe three to five small frames might be really neat. Like a small sequential art series with a bit of text... sort of a faery tale... Good thoughts inkscribble, good thoughts!! I could include a unicorn too! I love them hehe ^_^ Oh, you must've read Bruce Coville's two books in the unicorn chronicles series, right?

inkscribble In reply to SashaFitzgerald [2008-03-31 03:20:37 +0000 UTC]

Read the first one, but unfortunately, I'd already read The Last Unicorn and A Swiftly Tilting Planet, which are by far the most beautiful portrayals of unicorns ever, and they outshone it rather badly.

Anyway, definitely include a unicorn, and make it gorgeous! A mermaid, too!

SashaFitzgerald In reply to inkscribble [2008-04-03 05:43:01 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, definitely wasn't that impressed with the Unicorn Chronicles... I'm pretty sure it drew on way too long/too many lacklustre pages. The character's goal, whatever it was, wasn't very captivating either. I have many books to read, obviously! lol!

inkscribble In reply to SashaFitzgerald [2008-04-03 17:22:48 +0000 UTC]

Agreed - what I remember was that the girl's grandmother got murdered in the beginning. Now, not only is that not a good start to a book for children, but if I remember correctly, she took it very much in stride, which I feel is very unlikely.

But does that mean you haven't read A Swiftly Tilting Planet? Because if it does, you ought to know that its part of a series - A Wrinkle In Time, A Wind In The Door, Many Waters, A Swiftly Tilting Planet, and finally An Acceptable Time - written by the brilliant Madeline L'Engle, and that they're all fantastic. They're a kind of meeting of science fiction and fantasy.

SashaFitzgerald In reply to inkscribble [2008-04-05 23:28:56 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, now that you mention it, I think that was how the book began... That's kind of like how it look harry only three weeks to get over the death of his godfather... But that was only because ppl complained about how emo harry was all through book six

Wow... I really do have a lot of books to read!! *am actually excited*

Well, I don't think it ever really left him, its more that he was able to function normally, you know?

And the Time Quintet is classic reading!

SashaFitzgerald In reply to inkscribble [2008-04-23 19:37:23 +0000 UTC]

I've started the first one! I'm loving Charles Wallace, he's adorable!

The sadness never left Harry, that's for sure, but I felt the over all loss of Sirius and the emo way in which Harry was acting out just sort of stopped in book seven (which I was thankful for). It didn't transition very smoothly. Admittedly, it's been a few years since I've read six, though. I quite liked the last book ^_^

He's my favourite, too!

I also just had a thought re: Harry - Dumbledore's death would have reshuffled his feelings, as Dumbledore was a much more solid fixture in his life.
