Out of pure interest, you do know that Lee spent most of the Civil War as the Commander in Cheif of the Army of Northern Virginia and not as Commander in Cheif of the Confederate forces. Jeff Davis was the Armys supreme commander for most of the war and only relinquished that position to Lee too late for him to do anything with it.
Also remember that the first conflict for Lee during the War was in West Virginia and it was a terrible campaign that Lee failed to win due to the actions of the General under his command and his inability to discipline lower ranking officers.
