Description
Robert had a tough decision. He had to choose between the confederate army or the union army. First, he fought for the Union before the split. Also, he lived in Virginia. Although he was against slavery, he felt that he could not march on his own home. Finally, after much consideration, sent out letters of resignation to the secretary of war and General Scott to quit the Union army. We will never know if this was the right decision.Related content

Bit late to add anything to you English paper I suppose...however I just want to point out here that the choice was always clear to Robert E Lee when Virginia seceeded. He would never raise his sword against his home, Virginia, or his family so once Virginia left the Union Lee was destined to follow.
I believe his exact words were :
"With all my devotion to the Union and the feeling of loyalty and duty of an American citizen, I have not been able to make up my mind to raise my hand against my relatives, my children, my home."

The time had come for Robert E. Lee to choose one of the most arduous decisions in his entire life. He had to choose between the Confederate army and the Union army. His opinions altered his thinking. For one, he was against slavery yet he could not attack his homeland without remorse. After sleepless nights, presumed by all, he sent out the letters of resignation to the secretary of war and to General Scott quitting the Union Army.
(I wrote that in like 5 minutes... it needs more evidence... but please alter the text if you are willing to include it...)
BTW: JUST ADVICE! Constructive Criticism can be good.
