The magic of this painting is that:
Facial features and shadows
This picture is painted in very easy and bit stencil technique,
with watercolors. That technique doesn't require details and that's
reason why it's so visible, I think.

It's a very iconic shot, the one of him just with the cigarette and again the colours are fantastic. Love the things you do with shadows.

I think you should use less water and more paint.
Is that paint is good it alot depens on manufacturer.
Tell me what watercolors you used, cubes or tubes?
And What's company(i dunno is that good word)
When i begginin' painting with watercolors I used too mcuh paint and to little water.
And it looks more like tempers than WatercolorsXD

yea i used cubes, and i'm not even sure if they were of good quality; they were from the school. But i'm not quite sure which brand or anything (not that i'm familiar with paint brands) and yea, maybe i used too much water lol. and the paper i used prolly wasn't that good either because it wrinkled and drove me insane hahaha

If paper make itself wrinkled it means you used too much water xD.
Cubes are much better than tubes.
Cuz watercolor paints in tubes are with water.
You'll not take such a good effects and colors like with cubes.
I'm using Karmański watercolor cubes for me they are very good paints and not too expencive
Karmański brand used very good pigments for the manufacture of paints. But i dunno whether are available in your country
