I took this picture in 2006 at Lake Louise, Alberta. This random chipmunk ran up to me, sat down by my foot and looked at me. So I gave it a peanut, and took a picture. And named it Chippy.

yeah, but in the summer i can get squirrels to eat from my hand, so that makes up for it. (in the winter, they just steak the birdseeds

Squirrels fear me. They run away from me.
For some reason, the chipmunks don't though.

hmm. well, it took our squirrel buddies a while to get used to us. oh, if you do ever try to feed one, just remember to move very slowly and sit down somewhere. also, if they are laying on their stomaches, that means they are nervous and scared, so just be patient. they'll come around.

oh, and the best time to try and get them to come to you is in the summer because there isn't a bunch of nuts around for them or birdseeds. oh yeah, and they are very partial to peanuts!

oh, and wear socks or sneakers. they sometimes try to eat your toes. especially the pinky toes because they're small like peanuts! (or maybe that's just my squirrels...)

well, they didn't bite hard, they were about to, but i shooed her and said, "no Miss Scarlet! that's not a peanut! that's a toe!" that's when i learned that i should always wear my converse when feeding the squirrels.
