The second in the Weekly 90's Challenge! This week - Captain Planet! (And the Planeteers, as you can see from my pic
) I loooooved this show, and I was excited to get to draw the characters, but MAN are they hard to draw, and there's just so many colours in their clothing!
Well, guess that's the 90's for you!
For the record, Wheeler and Linka were my favs, and should have totally hooked up.

Kevin's a new character. Has only appeared in 2 of the Betty and Veronica comics (though I think it's more Veronica than Betty, since they both have their own series now). Veronica was interested in dating him, only to be crushed when she found out that he preferred guys. However, they still talk about fashion and shopping and boys and... yeah.
I'm so out of the loop when it comes to the X-men movies. Like, I saw the first one in theaters. Caught the end of the second one on the tele. Haven't seen the third one or the Wolverine: Origins movie (though there was an inside joke at work that if we saw a naked Hugh Jackman / Logan lookalike running up the road, we'd know that something was up, since there's a building not too far from our store that shares the name of the corporation that created the weapon #'s project)
I think the movie I'm looking forward to this summer is Cars 2.

I wish they'd re-do it too..same characters and setting etc but perhaps develop some of the characters a little more and have a little less cheese this time

Mannnn, if Thundercats is getting redone (which I'm also super excited about!!!) then maybe we just have to wait a little bit longer for someone to pick up on remaking Captain Planet

I think that a modern day remake, with some of the current issues plaguing the environment would be amazing. But it would have to keep the same characters and everything, just update the animation and the like

Captain Planet actually started in the 80's, then re-ran into the 90's. Too bad its most recent envisioning was as part of a Robot Chicken short where creator Ted Turner painted himself to resemble Captain Planet, demanding that people protect the world, lest he off them.
"Protect the planet or I kill you. CAPTAIN PLANEEEEEEEET!"

Lol, I didn't know it started in the 80's... It was part of the W90C Challenge, so I'd just assumed it started in the 90's.
And I'm sad I missed that episode of Robot Chicken! Not that I actually watch it that diligently, but it sounds entertaining.

Honestly, I am surprised that with the go-green movement, it hasn't come back yet. I think it's because it is made out to be poorly done brand (see the various parodies that make it out to be a joke) that the show hasn't returned.
