Hey bitches!!!! (in the nicest way possible)THIS HAS BEEN SO LONG IN THE MAKING! First I hurt my shoulder again, so I was slow. Plus I've been doing renovations at home. And then my dog got really sick, and I rushed him to the 24 hr emergency vet in the middle of the night, then took him to the regular vet the next day, which is the same day that my partner's parents flew in to visit. I haven't stopped. But my little Pippin (that's my doggy) is okay; he had acute pancreatitis, needed fluids and was in a lot of pain. I didn't think I'd get so emotional over it, but I did. I love the fucker TT___TT
Anyways, LOOK PAGE 6!!!! And what an involved page it is. Also, don't hate me. I never said this doujin had a happy ending.

Thank you. Dog's 100% again, and okay on his current food (was wet food that made him sick) but I'll be switching to the low fat version of his food.

Wet food caused the reaction? Wow, what brand do you use, if you don't mind me asking? Wet is far lower in fat than dry (usually by more than half the percentage of protein and fat), it's strange that it would cause his pancreas to have issues. Of course it's usually fatty human foods that are the culprit, and cat food of course. Or over feeding the high protein super foods. Though I did have one pet parent tell me a few pieces of dark turkey caused that in their small dog. (sorry, work for a pet store, I can't help myself).

I think the opposite; wet food has way more fat than dry food. The stuff they use for wet food is all the meat cutoffs that we won't eat, and that contains a lot of fat. I feed him science diet, steak bones, chicken sometimes. None of that ever, ever gives him problems. As soon as I try to treat him to wet food on his kibble, he's sick. And this time he was very sick so I'm never doing that again.

That really depends on the brand of food you use. Some of the foods we are actually human grade meats (some are even better than some "human" grade food), others...not so much. Science diet is kind of on the lower side of middle grade, so it's hard to say with that one. Though wet food seems to have more meat it's actually so high in moisture that it takes up more room in the dogs/cats stomach so they end up eating less nutrients/calories. Wet food is great for overweight pets so long as they're not getting dry food as well, or at least much smaller portions of it.
Chicken is a good food, so long as it's not seasoned and they're getting the right portions and also still getting the fruits and veggies they need for their vitamins, minerals, fiber, antioxidants, ect. Bones...if they're supervised. But that's another issue, and can vary from dog to dog.
The reaction could have been from him getting an added portion. The food he was on before may have already been too fatty for him, he could have been over eating (which is common with that brand), he could be getting too old for the formula he's on, could have gotten into something you weren't aware of, he could have also just had too many treats on top of the added food, or any combination.

He's a very young dog, not even two. He just doesn't handle wet food from a can very well. Nor from the fresh rolls you can buy for dogs. He also doesn't gobble his food down; I put in a can sized portion into his bowl and he'll pick at it over the day until it's gone. I just see the pattern that he doesn't digest whatever is in canned food, since I've tried 5-6 brands. The only one he can stomach is the one specifically meant for pancreatitis (I/D).
