Description
I'll be the first to admit that due to recent events, my heart was no longer in this piece. It was almsot fully colored at the time to, which makes it sad, since I'd been very happy with it before then... however, in trying to finish it, I became far too frustrated, too wanting it to just be done.I might come back to it, weeks from now, and make it more complete, but it's hard to stay focused on light, happy fanart, when reality is much darker.
Copics and ink.
Kakashi & Sakura - 10yrs from the start of the series.
All characters owned by Kishimoto-sensei.

Ah, this is why the print I picked up at Anime Boston looked so familiar yet I couldn't quite place seeing it before. Guess I must have stumbled upon it here before going to the Con. I love this piece and am sad to read that you kind of fell out of love with it when finishing it.
I really like the way you've portrayed Sakura 'all grown up.' She looks much more like a deadly threat here than she ever did in the series - someone to be taken seriously. I also like the kunai in her hair and the way it mimics Kakashi's in that it veers off to the left in defiance of gravity.
Kakashi also looks good, I suppose he's a bit timeless. Though he does look a bit thin, maybe he hasn't been eating much lately? Regardless I love this... enough to buy the print, with which I am very happy.

THanks!
I've been having an urge to go back into this design. I always enjoyed the idea of Sakura - ninja threat. I'm kind of disappointed with the lack of real 'female ninja' use in the series. I mean... subtlely, information poisoning, anonymous deaths....the more delicate arts of subterfuge.
I'm very glad you liked it enough to buy the print! Hopefully, now that more art time is opening up for me, I'll continue this pairing.

Oh yay! Happy is hearing there may be more KakaSaku from you in the future! I will definitely be looking forward to anything you may do in the future!
I have to agree that I would like to see some of the more subtle ninja arts utilized in Naruto - though I can probably make a good guess as to why they have been left out. Guys have a tendency not to appreciate subtly (for the most part they tend to miss it, at least the ones I know anyway) and since it is aimed primarily at guys I would guess that something the targeted audience won't pick up on wouldn't be something likely included in the series. Cβest la vie I guess, perhaps you have found a nice niche just waiting to be filled in the manga world.
Anyway Iβm very much looking forward to anything you may do in the future. Iβll have to you so I wonβt miss anything.
Please keep up the phenomenal work β I think I saw that youβll be at another Con Iβll be attending; Iβll definitely make a point of stopping by to see what else you may have.

Well - They make a comment at some point in the series about how the female ninjas are required to learn those more subtle arts - how to mingle as socialites and then gather info/spy/kill - which is why they're not as strong as the men. But then it never HAPPENS. Sakura just becomes insanely strong instead. oO And all the others seem to just get married and have ninja babies, so it's like, WTF?
I'm reading an awesome british spy series, so I'm really inspired to play with her character design here again.
As for cons - I'll POSSIBLY be attending AnimeNext (still waiting to hear from them), Connecticon, and I'm awaiting Otakon's table listings.

Aw, crumbs... why set something so cool up only to ignore it? Now I'm going to have to go looking for the reference you're talking about and see if I can find it and maybe some doujinshi or fanfics that take that as their leaping off point. (Yeah, okay I don't think I'll find much either, but I can still hope, right? )
Ooo, which spy series? I'm always looking for new things to read and or watch. Does it involve MI-5? Or is it a non government group?
I don't think I'll be heading to Anime Next this year, but I will be heading to ConnectiCon. So I will definitely have to make sure to stop by your table.... I'll readily admit I got a little distracted once I hit upon your KakaSaku print.
The only one in the Alley I'm fairly certain since I spent a good amount of time looking.

Even more old school then that. I'm about halfway through a series by Patrick O'Brian called the Aubrey/Maturin series (It's about 20 books!!!) It's set during French/british war (Buonoparte era) and Maturin is a spy - So you get those wonderful old world spy tactics- poisoned information, subtle murders, torture, etc. all mixed in around ships in battle and etc.
The movie Master and Commander was loosely based off several of the books, but they never touched Maturin's spy status, and thats the best part of the books.
Yay! Connecticon! That's such a fun con...

Oh wow, that sounds like it could be really interesting stuff! I'll have to divert some of my manga funds toward novels again and check it out! You've definitely gotten me intrigued.
And I love ConnectiCon! Though I was ready to kill the stupid little brat (I'm assuming it was someone's brat) who kept pulling the fire alarm last year at the Marriott... Here's to hoping it won't happen again!

Love the hair, but not the pairing.
GOD, I wish Kishimoto had made Sakura look like that! Your design is really nice.
Who knows, maybe that'll be my Anbu design for her, if it's okay with you (is writing an epilogue doujin).
Again, great job!

Very few of the pairings I draw are my preferred. I do them more for friends and commish. Kakashi, to me, is the eternal bachelor. Putting him into a relationship just....ruins him. Because he stops being Kakashi then.
Glad you like it. If you end up basing your design around this, just give me kudos please.

Still, I am very glad you posted this piece.

In the period between finishing the sketch, and beginning the coloring process, one of my former classmates I graduated with was killed in an accident. I became preoccupied with that, and all the things death requires, and just lost interest in coloring things bright colors.
I'm very glad you liked it though. I have some more Naruto pieces in the scrap section.
Honestly, I hope that eventually I'll have the urge to go back into it. I was finally beginning to learn alot about photoshop coloring through editing that piece. However, it's hard for me to get back into a drawing once I decide I'm done with it.
<3 for the fave!!

Chi I know you worked ultra-hard on this piece and I'm sorry what happened happened, but I still think its beautiful. I know I have no art background so my comments mean, well, not much in the way of art, but I like it. And I LOVE her hair

There's alot of clean up in it, that I just kinda gave up on. THat's what really bugs me - on closer inspection you see all these pen marks from the initial sketch. Besides that, I think it came out pretty decent, all things considered.
And of course you love the hair. It's pink. <3

Oooooo~!! You got such a lovley style!!! I love how you designed Sakura! Kakashi looks so stoic too, such cuteness! =3
And even though your heart wasn't in it, this is still incredibly gorgeous! I know how ya feel with the fan artsy stuff vs. darkness of reality. It's so much easier to draw according to your moods.
