So, I have been working on my MLP Project between Commissions. I think it is finally done. The BG is what took me so long since I am terrible at drawing architecture and buildings.
Here we have the first meeting of Princess Twilight Sparkle with the Emperor of Neigh-Beyul, Lord Yang. He is in the temple guarding the Alter of Balance upon which sits the Yin Yang, holding the Sunstone and the Moonstone (Both are divine dragon orbs in physical form). Naturally, the Emperor must awe his guests with an impressive entrance and display. I can imagine him appearing from above, and landing with great force to stir the tiles and clamor the gongs. No doubt startling and intimidating his guest.
To be honest, the BG still bothers me...I think it is too cluttered. I think I was trying a little too hart to put as much as I could in. I'm considering removing the hanging lanterns or maybe the gongs...it may just be too much...too busy with all the accessories in there...I'd appreciate any feedback from viewers.

I took out the lanterns as suggested. BG seems less cluttered to me now, but I would still like some feedback.
I fixed the hind foot fur!
The cowering image of Twilight Sparkle was vectored from "A Canterlot Wedding" (Part 2) when Twilight Sparkle was first trapped in the Crystal Caves and being taunted by Queen Chrysalis in the guise of Princess Cadance. I just added her wings and crown to update her look.
Still have a couple of commissions to finish, then I need a break. Just a short one.
Please do not use my Artwork to create your own "custom" base and do not "Vector" my background or any of its elements. You're not allowed to trace or use my art for Bases on DeviantART or any other website for distribution.

Regarding the rendered Twilight, I should explain; I chose to render from the show because I tried to draw a similar pose, but I couldn't get the angle to look right. It was then I turned to the show and watched many episodes to try and find the right pose and angle reference. It wasn't until the Canterlot Wedding that I glimpsed the scene and decided "That's it! That's what I need!" Ironically, it was Twilight herself that made the pose. So I used it for the rendering. The only "Original" parts are the tiara and the wings.
I was curious by what you mean by Twilight's Tiara being a goof? I did a "backwards" rendering of the tiara since we were looking at the back of her head, and I tried to angle it how it would sit on her head properly from the front. Is it because I made it as "backwards"? Is that why its a goof?
About the Lighting; I assume you thought the light was coming from a more back ground source like the window. For the scene was actually coming from almost directly above and slightly behind Yang, and the shadows cast were actually correctly angled from that source. The long shadows were not from the Gongs themselves, but were from the half-walls behind them. While Yang is fully exposed to the light in the open center of the room. This was a pretty complex scene I was putting together, but if I were to cast long shadows from the window, then all of Yang's front would be shadowed, and he'd probably look more Ominous than just Intimidating.
Oh, and about the "goof" you said about his right hoof being visible, its not. The white you see to the left of her head is actually the tip of his tail fur, and some of the "dust circle" from his "dramatic landing" ^_^

- The small goof in Yang's right rear hoof is that has a small tuft of hair that should not be visible from the front, just as you have done here:

- The small goof in the tiara is that is a bit displaced to the left (in my opinion).
- About the lighting is a bit more complex: I believed they come from the purple and orange windows behind, since the stairs are a bit shadowed. If you say that lights come from above and slighty behind Yang then you are right and shadows are acurated.
As you said is a very complex scene and very dificult to cast shadows.
When I refered small goof I mean very small errors. As English is not my first language sometimes and in Spain / France we have another way to talk sometimes I don't express myself correctly. (writing critiques in my worktime doesn't help either)

I REALLY wish the introduction of the folk Qilin would be better than... "this" (I mean the episode in which they appear). Because I expected a BIG KINGDOM/QUEENDOM in Asia style but not... this. It's a cute village they have but... seriously, the Qilin got SO MUCH potential for a BIG NEW EMPIRE (like in this fanart here by you, which is a great idea) ... the episode in which they arrive was cute and nice and how they live and so on... but otherwise, it seems a bit like an... unloved introduction to a new species and for the friendship problem they have... they could it also have in an big empire or after their introduction.
*sigh* mlp seems really a bit dissapointing since/with season 7. Season 8 seems a bit better, but... I really think, if they had introduced the Qilin in earlier seasons, they would give them a big empire which they deserve. Like I said, I think their village is nice and cute and I also like it. But I've would like it a bit more, if they would be not only the village, but also the empire and the village is part of the empire.

I personally am pretty irked about how MLP approached the sacred Kirins. So much potential wasted. Your interpretation of them is a HUGE breath of fresh air that I desperately wanted from MLP in the first place but never got and I am very glad someone in the fandom is returning the Kirin back to its roots.

Seeing the episode remind me of your art and I loved your design take on the creature. I would honestly love to see your portrayal on the small screen because your story had depth and it was more engaging. Not to mention that there was a King (for once). Not that I have a problem with female rulers,but it's a little overrated and predictable imo. I really do wish they explored the Qilins more since it's one of my favorite type of Fantasy Beast (among many),but it was sad that they didn't do so much with them.

Lord Yang would appreciate the praise as well! Though he, himself, sees his position as more of a guardian of the balance, and keeper of his people. He would probably encourage such praise to be given to the great golden dragon king, Great Grandfather, who resides in the valley's great dragon lake. ^_^

Yes. In my lore, the land of the Far East is ruled by the Dragon Kings overall. Great Grandfather is the high king, and his four sons rule over the northern, eastern, southern, and western regions of the Far East.
