Dates: 8/13/21-8/18/21 (Took 6 days)Artist's Notes: Another commission done for . Here are some nixies, aquatic plants that blossom at night. I made some of the flowers of these plants bioluminescent in order to more effectively attract pollinators in the dark. From left to right, top to bottom:
Knucker Blossom: based on the knucker, a kind of water dragon drawn earlier for this project, which may share a name origin with nixies
Anne's Folly: based on leafy sea dragons and depictions of mythological kelpies, a shape shifting water horse often equated to nixies
Gla'aki Floatweed: based on Gla'aki, an entity from the Cthulhu mythos
Riparian Haghive: different species of this plant provide homes for different species of social or eusocial animals that in turn act as guards and pollinators for the plant, based on myrmecophytes (plants that house ant colonies) and the wyvern nests and dragonfly hives from Heroes of Might and Magic III
Batrachian Fenrose: based on frogs
Molly's Night Amethyst: based on the crystalline palace created by Entei in the third Pokemon film
