Artist's Notes: The Shunka Warakin, also known as the American hyena is a creature from Native American folklore that has been interpreted in modern day as possessing the features of both hyenas and wolves. Unlike most cryptids there are actual bodies associated with this one so there seems to be at least something out there. From the pictures I have seen the creature looks a bit "off". It doesn't quite look like a coyote, wolf or dog but more like a cross between all three, only with much shaggier brown fur. I don't know if this strangeness is due to bad taxidermy, some odd mutation, or cross breeding between domestic dogs and their wild relatives but there is something very weird about those bodies.
