Artist's Notes: Thyreosaurus is a newly described genus of stegosaurid. What makes it unique is the different texture on each side of its back plates, suggesting that they lay flat along its back. Because so little of the skeleton was found the exact arrangement and pattern of these plates is still unknown. It could have had erect Stegosaurus like plates along with the flat osteoderms, multiple rows of plates on each side or just one, or the plates could have transitioned into the thagomizers of the tail. It may have even been fully covered in flat osteoderms like a pangolin, which, ironically, would have made it resemble some of the earliest depictions of Stegosaurus.
