Description
A homage to my forum activity! Yup, I’m a lurker. Safe for my occasional creative outbursts of course. I like it that way, truth be told. Unfortunately I’m too strained for time to be anything else-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As the sliding doors split apart, Dave was momentarily blinded by the light emanating from the core set far underneath the walk-way. It was an impressive sight for sure, but it had lost most of it’s attraction to the engineer after the five years he had worked on board the platform. His attention was mostly on the repair report on the display in his hands and on the man walking next to him.
“I’m telling you, I saw him. He could have done it” He tried again, which provoked a sigh out of his companion.
Mitch gave Dave a frown with clear signs of his scepticism written all over his face. “Could it now? A lurker could have done it?”
“Why not?” Dave protested rather heated. The discussion had carried on for several corridors now. “It isn’t unthinkable these creatures are of descent intelligence. They certainly would have opportunities enough to log in the DotQ.”
Mitch forced a calm and patient tone in his voice. “We know absolutely nothing about these creatures. Few people have seen signs of one, even fewer people have actually seen a lurker in the flesh, and absolutely no one has ever had the chance to study them. You know why? Because they don’t want to be found. They lurk. That’s all they do. That’s why they’re called lurkers. There’s nothing intelligent about them.”
“Explain to me then how we can’t seem to pin even one down.” Dave replied just as strained for patience.
“The station is freaking huge, Dave. We have an entire population supporting itself here, for crying out loud. If you want to vanish in this place there’s really not much effort needed.”
“You’d need to be pretty damn clever to avoid patrols, cameras, scanners, not to mention all kinds of sensors and detectors.”
Another sigh escaped Mitch. “Fine, granted. I don’t know how they do it, but as far as I can tell they’re still little more then overgrown green vermin. I can’t imagine the damn critters adding lines of codes to DotQ.”
“Well something damn well did. It’s just as well the lines of code don’t seem to be doing anything. We can’t seem to get them out either.” A grin escaped Dave. “The guys at Programming already dubbed them ‘lurker codes’.”
Mitch refused to reply to that, and began to speed his pace. He was in no mood for this discussion.
Several paces up, the lurker blinked slowly as the two men walked out his view, then turned up and crawled deeper into the tubes shaft.

Awesome, love the reference to "tubes."
Your artwork is always welcome on DotQ, Lurker!

I think I'll make that my sub-title.
Anything I deem worthy is uploaded on DotQ as well. I can be picky about what I like though

Nice job with the lighting! The hands on the walls should be open all the way (like stretched fingers), otherwise they don't hold weight.
I really like the angles, very dramatic!

Thank you! I like dramatic effects, and lighting in particular. They're my primary objectives And I didn't even know about the stretched fingers, but now I think about it (and tried it out) you are absolutly right. I'll keep it in mind next time around.

Laws of physics state it has to be something anyway, so it might as well be something else
