Well, I like the contrast of the image, but I think I need to point out something. What makes this look completely realistic is the fact that feeding tubes are not that big, the one in her nose would bloody it, and possibly break it.

So, this shit started from.....a tube that didn't look realistic....? O.O Quoi? You want realistic, dears - I suggest that you go to a hospital. Perhaps that Savina didn't have a 'real' Nasojejunal tube...

what is your problem? You have the mose sterio typical shitty photo manip gallery of deviant art. you arent giving me "critique" you, someone who is not a photographer, are telling me something is specificly wrong with my photo. something that is ment to be unrealistic. i dont have to fit what you want. dont respond to this, you are a fuck tard and should take your bullshit else where.

Sicsaxion- In reply to savinaswings [2006-05-27 04:48:39 +0000 UTC]
Actually if you looked at my gallery, you would notice I do more than just photomanipulation, and my deviations don't come from an angst ridden teenage mind, but from things I go through in life. If mine is just like everyone elses, then perhaps they possess the same soul I do. Perhaps you need to look at all the scenerios around you, and accept help when it is offered, or else, my deaf, it is you who looks like the "fucktard"

As a mediator, I must point out a few things. Before I start, though, I'ld like to make a more personal note. Stephanie, I have nothing against you. Savina, I have nothing against you. What you are about to read has been written for your benifit, and is not ment to insult anyone or anything - but rather, simply to point out certain unaliable truths that appear to have been overlooked throughout the course of the above conversation.
I will beguin.
Photography, by definition, is:
1. The art or process of producing images of objects on photosensitive surfaces.
2. The art, practice, or occupation of taking and printing photographs.
3. A body of photographs.
Logically, then, the "point" of photography is simply the action of one or more above definitions. Believe me, if you spend even 10 minutes viewing art on this webpage, you will most certainly find that a large percent of it is "unrealistic", or "unreal", if you'ld like to call it that. The proper term is actually "Magical Realist". Wikipedia sets the following criteria for such mentioned works as:
* Contains fantastical elements
* The fantastic elements may be intuitively "logical" but are never explained
* Characters accept rather than question the logic of the magical element
* Exhibits a richness of sensory details
* Distorts time so that it is cyclical or so that it appears absent. Another technique is to collapse time in order to create a setting in which the present repeats or resembles the past
* Inverts cause and effect, for instance a character may suffer before a tragedy occurs
* Incorporates legend or folklore
* Presents events from multiple perspectives, such as those of belief and disbelief or the colonizers and the colonized
* Uses a mirroring of either past and present, astral and physical planes, or of characters
* Ends leaving the reader uncertain, whether to believe in the magical interpretation or the realist interpretation of the events in the story
If you'ld like, I'ld be happy to name plenty of highly accliamed artists on this website whose main style of art falls under the catagory of "Magical Realism". If you've ever seen a feature film, chances are 1000:1 that you've seen a bit of magical realist art.
Now, my friends, lets move on.
While the next line of business, which we will call "criticism". Because criticism is simply voicing ones opinions after judging a situation, article, or idea, we cannot very easily talk in it's regards, through logical methods. But, of course, as it tends to be a social matter, we can speak in that manner.
Criticism can be administered in any way a person wishes to, but just as walking naked through a city is generally looked down apon, so is negative criticism. You can do it, of course, but it is not only rude and disrespectful, it is generally not looked highly apon. Of course, it will create a bad reputation for those who administer it, one might argue that those types of people tend to be too conceited to care, much less notice. As most people will tell you, here on Deviant Art, constructive criticism is highly encouraged. Another way I've heard it said, is "If you don't have anything nice or helpful to say, don't say anything at all".
You could relate negative criticism to telling a random person on the sidewalk that they "are fat, ugly, and need to die." While it has happened, it is generally socially unacceptible (for obvious reasons, if you've been paying attention to anything I've said in the past three minutes).
As a very wise man once said, "Do not judge, lest ye be judged in the same way."
If, as it is a possible occurrence, a person takes your criticism as negative, when you intended it to be helpful or constructive, it is wise to note that mistake, and apologize, offering a new perspective on your thoughts regarding the situation, object, or idea being criticized. Avoid hostility whenever you can - abolish it from your mind, before it abolishes you from life.
For a brief moment, I'ld like to touch on the topic of condescension. Just as the previously discussed topic, condescension is a socially rejected state, and can be brought to the same conclusion. Not only is it widely considered rude, it tends to raise up hostility within the receiver, causing mutual conflict. Of course, observation will show that the result tends to be the encouragement for the first contact; a common sign of immaturity. As stated above, "If you don't have anything nice or helpful to say, don't say anything at all."
On a personal note, the bit that I find the funniest is... you're both so close in age!
In conclusion, then, "The start of a quarrel is like the first crack in a dam; stop it before it develops into a fight."
This is a pointless quarrel that will not be resolved through the current courses of action being taken. I say again, this is pointless. Learn from what I have written, and let this bit of a brawl cease.
A few small notes in closing:
Don't bother responding to this post, I will not continue any discussion raised regarding it.
Also, the majority of angsty persons state their artistic works not as "angst", but simply as things they've gone through in their life. It's almost inevitable that they will use one or more of the following words within the same paragraph: "blood", "cut", "pain", "romance", "hard", "depression", "understand", "heart", "soul", "death", "vampire", "teenage", "chemical".
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Have a wonderful day, and please enjoy this wonderful art community.

Shit, you don't KNOW what I go through in my life, it would have made your angst eat you from the inside. I have a personal notion with every single thing I create. But it seems you are too ignorant to look past a visual perspective. I'm not the one to talk about emo, I'm friends with a girl you hate dearly, and she has told me several things about you I find rather disturbing. I'm not here to bash you, piss you off, but IF you take it to far, you will regret it.

wow.... now there's a person who needs to learn something about the word hypocritical. Look it up. And by the way, ~djdarkshade has quite a point. You came to ~savina criticizing her, which means you opened up a situation in which it made it possible for her to criticize you, and then you tried to defend yourself. Remember, you're the one who started this conflict from the beginning. And you should really read the description to this devation by Savina once more, realizing that it is an entry for a contest, in which the feeding tube in the nose is supposed to be large, go to the contest owners page and look at the deviations in which art is supposed to be made after for the contest, and you'll see that this photo actually resembles it very well. You fail to pay attention to details and in doing so you lack common sense.

I have a personal opinion about feeding tubes. If you are going to do a hospitalization picture, make it more realistic and try not to make a mockery of people that have been placed in that situation. Yes, I have had a feeding tube, and I would never want to get one again. I talked to DJ in a note earlier, he and I are speaking off the comments page and more privately.

Okay, well that's your own personal business and I'm curious as to why you are so open about sharing it with everyone, could it be perhaps that you are an attention seeker, I dont wanna point any fingers.. but I'm not the only one who would agree that you are. Keep your business to yourself, it's no concern of mine. My point originally that you failed to pay attention to, was that once again, I'll repeat myself... this is an entry for a contest in which the requirements are that everything in the deviation look like the character. The feeding tube in the characters nose is BIG. If you have a problem with that, you should raise it with the creater of the character, ~DavidR-XV and not harass Savina about doing what was required to make an entry into the contest. I dont see why it's necessary to harass somebody for making something that's based on what another artist did and not to mention we're all arguing about a fucking feeding tube. So, please take a look at the artwork that this is made after, [link] [link] [link] and while you're at it, grow the fuck up.

I am harrassing? I'm not the one that went and got all my friends to come and comment against her, nor did I post her on my journal. Do not talk to me about harrassment, I am only replying to comments. I am not an attention seeker, I'm far from it, and yes I am open about it because there is so much more to it, but I'd rather not get into it. I have enough on my place, and this is a very minimal portion. I'm very much grown up, perhaps you should get to know people before you make that comment.

mmhmm, well sorry darlin', but your actions determine your age and in this scenario I'd say you're no older than 15. You chose to look at this piece of artwork and you chose to criticize it in a very rude manner, she actually responded nice on your first couple of comments but you kept provoking her and then it seemed to turn into a personal attack as you brought up knowing sombody she hates... and blah blah blah. You need to let it go and let her go on with her business. And you need to understand that when you are totally out of line in the way that you treat somebody, the people who care for them and for what they do will support them and tell you that you are wrong. I'm done here, no need replying. I'm just trying to encourage you to do a little research on this entire disagreement and take a look at the things I've pointed out. Take some things into consideration like the fact that nobody is sticking up for you. Sometimes you just have to say, "I'm wrong and that's okay." Then you do something that all mature people do, and you move on.

1. No one is here sticking up for her because the only person who has said anything about it is your friend. And the only people responding are her friends.
2. I think it's stupid that it's escalated to this point. Your friend can walk away just as easily as anyone else. That said, I don't think anyone should be calling Sicsaxion stupid, childish, et cetera, because your friend had the opportunity to not even respond and still hasn't walked away.
3. Her original comment wasn't the "OMG SO MEEN I STAB U IN DA HART" type comment that everyone is making it out to be. It's not that big of a deal. Really. I can't even believe anyone is still TALKING about it. She was trying to be helpful and constructive, OH NO. A comment that isn't all sugar and spice. How horrible! It cracks me up that people get bent out of shape over comments on a computer. Try having stuff like that said to your face and trying to keep a smile because you need to sell something if you want to eat this week. Stop making such a big deal out of internet crits. Geeze.
4. Both parties should let it go. Two way street. Everyone should just walk away. This thing has escalated too far. It's just a comment. Not the end of the world.

mmhmm, I totally agree.. but you know, I felt the need to let her know that she was out of line and I brought it to her attention as you'll notice in one of my comments that the reason her critique was ridiculous was because Savina was making fan art based on a character made by a different artist, and we're all basically arguing about a feeding tube. Yes, I totally agree it's bullshit, but I was pointing out that if this chick wants to get mad about the size of a feeding tube she should take it to the original artist not Savina who was making a photo based on a fictional character.

Have you told your friend she's out of line?
As for the feeding tube argument, it looks proportional to the character's nose in the drawings.
I think everyone just really needs to walk away.

I turned 18 in december. Again, maybe you should ask before you assume. And, I had moved on with my last comment to savina, then I read her journal and it all escalates again. If I was acting below my age, I would have done what she did. I did not flame her entire gallery, post a journal about her, or get my friends to come back to comment.

It seems you're maturity is currently constipated, maybe you should take some laxatives to fix up that problem. I dont believe that you're 18 when you reacted towards her with just the same immaturity and the fact that you started all this. Look, I was just trying to put a little common sense into you, but it seems you're far too stubborn, arrogant and not to mention blind, deaf and dumb. Too bad I've waisted my time here, have fun in photoshop.

Uhmm yeah, people stopped saying deaf, blind and dumb in the 40s. They said it because they assumed all deaf & blind people were retarded. Way to go.
Another good idea is to not call people deaf, blind or dumb over the internet because you don't know when you're actually being mean to a deaf person, such as this scenario.
