Description
This is all my original work, and all my copywrite.Based off of actual experience, the trumpet section is very adamant about whos first trumpet or a section leader.
So it shows how some ill tempered people can buckle under the pressure.
Really though, the rivalry is somewhat true, me being the girl... ^^ I can't say anymore, or I could sign my own death warrant...
Anyways, me and my buddies thought of this funny senario, and It's probably funnier if you know the people in person...

Yeah, things can happenlike that, but you gotta keep playing and praticing, because you can get those high notes, it takes alot of patience and time but it can happen!

Improv is hard, that's a good skill to have! but just keep on practicing, thats the best advice anyone can give! Maybe using a smaller trumpet mouthpiece might help,and using lots of air!

I play on size 15A4A and its the best mouthpiece I have ever played on. It gave me a bigger sound and I can play a bit with it.

yeah mouth pieces can make a big difference, and just make sure you have a good air supply, and that you are breathing deeply!

well, I give you kudos for getting so far with braces!!! I used to cut my lips everytime I played with them, (though I played through it and eventually grew enough scars to prevent the cuts), I know that pain!

Thats how i prevent pain. Although, the orthodontist forgot to tuck down the wire ties all the way, so TRIPLE THE PAIN!!!

I'm the girl in 1st chair too! That pissed J.T. off, he was so sure he'd get it... I WOULD'VE just given it to him, to boost his ego and all, but if he found out somehow, he'd kill me...But, yeah, he was so mad the first couple days, haha

True, but one thing that sucked...Mr. Antram, our band director, wasn't there. He had a last minute meeting. And we were stuck there for over two hours because the Jr. Varsity bus broke down. We also had a list of music, and we didn't play any of it. We played what we wanted to!

But you know I just became a section leader this year, and I'm a Junior in High School whos been playing for 6 years, so my advise, just keep on playing, practice afterschool everyday, and if you try helping other trumpet players all the time, and always turned out to be the best morally and attitude wise, I'm sure that you should get section leader. If someone else is section leader, Dont freak out like the guy in my comic,
instead, just try to see what got that person that title and not you. If you try to match them, or get even better, your Director should notice.
Thats the moral of this story.

Yay for trumpet girls! We are few and far between. At my school, there are 2 (I say again, 2) trumpet girls: me, and a sophomore girl who just transferred in. It can be wild. The boys are nice about it, though. I guess I just ended up with a particularly nice bunch. Well, that and the fact that the section leader's girlfriend for2 years was one of my best friends.

Yeah it sounds like you did get a lucky bunch! I didn't even sign up for marching band class this year because of all the crap, (I did marching band after school, and took jazz instead). I'm very very content in jazz band. Everyone gets along ^^. Its a happy lil' group!
But I hope something funny happens next year, so I can write another comic!! XD

I'm a trumpet girl, and I know the feeling. I try to stay out of the way of all the alpha males, practice like mad for section leader tryouts in secret, and try to train the freshmen boys to be less like the upperclassmen...
