Description
This is my regular world map I use for all my campaigns and continue to build on.
I recreated it in this realistic style and removed the labels.
It does not really have a name, but I usually refer to it as "Wraeclast" (the one from path of exile)

A tectonic plate collision forces deep Dense hard rock to form a new mountain range in a bowed curve shape. Volcanic flows filled the bowl shaped region inside the curve with layers of rock, followed by pumice and ash. The vulcanism died down and erosion forces changed the appearance of the surface. This Capital D shaped region is Many miles across, and almost a mile deep in the center of the D. Rain water trapped in the mountain range rock, traveled down through fissures gaining speed and pressure.
These streams of water would jet up through the volcanic rock into the basin of pumice, ash, and sand. The swirling deep channels of water churned the lose soils over them.
This created a region feared by many on this world they called it "the mouth of the land" or "The earth that eats" and would sacrifice to it, exiles would be forced to walk out into the sandy waste never to return. As time went on the region gained a new name,
"the quicksand sea"...
