Description Some happening during the festival. Some of my friends are gay, and even if they are not we all have no problems to kiss each other from time to time. We are friends and know each other so what. It is just always kind of funny, if two men kiss each other you are suddenly arounded by people (95% female people) who think you are awesome, cute, or whatever...just because they think you are something, you are maybe even not...or not completely or just not the way like people think you should have to be then. XD
First this girl thought we were "such a cute couple",  "sooooooooo cute" - until I told her that we are not a couple and that I have a girlfriend - then out of nothing I was BAD! Evil! Disgusting! How could I?! oO

That is really stupid. Men don`t become more cute, or better just because they are gay. They are not better humans, not worse. They are simple humans like all others.

Last year I also had a similiar happening on the festival after kissing a male friend of mine and she was like if he is gay and you are also interested in men why aren`t you a couple then? I just looked around, pointed my finger at a random man and told her: "Hey, you are a woman, there is man! Come on, run to him, become lovers and make a lot of babies!"Come on, just because a woman is attracted to men doesn`t mean she is attracted to every men....why should this be different by homosexual people? A gay man isn`t attracted to every other men, a gay woman isn`t attracted to every woman and a bisexual person isn`t attracted to everyone he/she meets on his/her way. They are the way like every other people too.

Cool comic, and too true.
You know, when I first saw this in my deviantwatch I thought the black-haired person (I assume you?) was Loki. Go figure.
I now picture you as Loki.

Whenever I think of a person being too overreacting of two guys kissing each other, I'd be like, "If you don't like what they're doing then get the hell out of here." I really don't mind the relationship between the same gender, I danced with a girl from my first junior-and-senior dance and nobody seemed to care. My school accepts people who are gay and bi, and you can say that my school is like a free country. There's even a city in SF called Castro and it was formed by gay men who were rejected to join the military during WW2, and again it's like a free country of love from where I'm living.

I'm in SF a lot, reasonably near the Castro, and what's funny is that where I am, it's fine if you're gay. It's fine if you're straight. What people make a big fuss about is if you're bi or undecided or if there are rumors that you're gay. It's kind of weird.
Also, I assume you know this, but just making sure-- you know the Castro is a neighborhood, right?

It all depends on your value. Some people believe the kiss in a relationship to be the most sacred thing, as it is what seal the deal in a wedding.

Then there are people like myself and my husband... who don't care. We love each other. If he wants to do stuff with other guys or girls, that's fine by me, and likewise on my side.

-shrug- Some people just forget that we're all different.

Oh lord. XD Had this person been rational, it would've ended it at, "I have a girlfriend and she knows. She's fine with me doing this." So long as both parties in the relationship are fine with something, why should it be anyone else's business? Even then, the idea is cute. I've never kissed a friend on the mouth, but I think it's sweet.

I didn't know about the Madonna/Britney Spears thing. That's cool. It takes guts.

What I found super impressive was a local highschool's production of Spamalot. I don't know if you know the show, but it takes place in Arthurian times, and there's a gay couple who get married, have an entire song entitled He's Gay, Okay!, in which the entire male ensemble dressed up in rainbow bikinis and did hip hop, and the two guys kissed each other on the lips at the end. Highschool guys. That takes guts. My favorite part, however, is still the line "In a thousand years' time this will *still* be controversial".

But I'm confused about the situation... do you mean you're in a open relationship, or the kiss was a platonic one? Your girlfriend would care if you kiss on lips another girl, and not a man?

Gosh, no I am not in an open relationship XD I am neither one who would fit into a polygamous one oO The kiss was nothing but a kiss and funny I am never be the person who starts kissing. Usually I only react because kissing for me it`s not that important or a way of mine to show affection. Of course it is not seen in the comic but while kissing with this person, I usually thinking about totally other thinks like: I am hungry, I am thirsty, wednesday I should call someone back, my nose itches....It hasn`t anything to do with affection in that case. XD

Uhm, no. He is not in a open relationship. But he know his friends much longer than his girlfriend and when he kissed a gay friend in the past why don't he do it now? Just because his girlfried?
If both talked about that and it is ok for both... why not?

And I'm sure. She wouldn't have a problem when he is another girl..... As long as he ask for a permission

You guys have never kissed your friends on the lips..? I already have, like I kissed my parents on the mouth... It's not a ceating thing. His girlfriend is ok with it, she knows that he does that with his friends and... so...?
And so no one has de right to interfer, to say it's right or wrong to say anything. It's their life, they do what they want (in the respect of the law of their own country ^^ be legal everyone ^^) Aaaand that's all you could have in mind ^^
Their life, their way to go through it

A funny story for something that, i think, come to be borring with the time ^^'

My best friend has a boyfriend and he's totally ok with us kissing if we want to. What you said about gays/bisexuals not being interested in every single person they meet, man, people don't seem to grasp that. I swear to god that when some people find out I'm bi they run scared because apparently everything to me is fair game. Doesn't help I tend to joke by flirting. 0.o  And this thing about treating gay or bi people like some kind of hero just because of their sexuality.....wth!? We are like everyone else.

You are right.  I have got some gay friends too and they have their good and their bad sides... like I have. They are not just always lovely because they are gay... and it is ridiculous that people are meant to be just the one or the other way (depend on the way people react to homosexuallity).
I have got a problem with cheating on the own girl/boy-friend withouth their knowledge... this shows there is no respect for the person you love... but if everybody in a partnership is fine with  the situation I see no bad thing about that. Especially between friends such things just happen ^^ I also kissed (female) friends at party´s because it was just fun and we all where in a good mood.

Many people believe in monogamous relationships (which is having one partner at a time), it's normal in society, especially in North America. So I can understand why a stranger might view it as wrong, because to them, it is seen as cheating on your partner.

I had a friend who was in a really relaxed relationship, even though it was monogamous. They had no problem with either of them flirting, kissing, touching someone else as long as it didn't lead into sexual interactions. It was something very different and it took a lot of their other friends a long time to get used to it.

I even knew a married couple who were in an open relationship. They each had at least 3 girlfriends/boyfriends on the side and hardly ever spent time together. They didn't stay married for very long, however. But it goes to show, that it is possible to find someone who accepts--and maybe even shares--your views, no matter how "unusual" they may be to others.

People are so stupid. Best word I can give ya. Stupid. However anyone wants to live their life, as long as they're not hurting anyone and everyone is consenting? Who cares what they get up to or who with. Silly to be all "OMG NO! BAD!" to people just because what they do doesn't fit what YOU would do or some such crap.

And it's sad that people don't "get" that some people who are just friends can have differing levels of "comfort" with one another. Some people get weirded out when two people HUG, let alone KISS, but hey -- some people are totally ok with stuff like that with friends. I'm not as comfortable with physical expression in most of my friendships, but with a few I don't mind it. Just how I am. Just as you are how you are. And we're all perfectly 'normal' and just fine ;D

Peopll = judgmental idiots XD

I've never heard of just friends kissing each other. I usually keep it to just hugs. I don't have a problem with it, it's just that I've never heard of such a thing. Personally, I keep kisses to an extreme minimum and full on kisses to a boyfriend. I'm just not comfortable being physically expressive like that. ;u;

TolmanCotton In reply to BloodhoundYellow [2014-08-17 18:29:26 +0000 UTC]

IN Russia it was a common habit to kiss friends on the lips as a sort of greeting. Probably they still do, I don't know. In Italy we hug and kiss each other twice on the cheeks, in Switzerland three times. It's just a social convention that only lovers can kiss, or that physical contact means something special.

I could see a problem if say said kissing of men was happening behind girlfriends back, as I'm of the mind any kind of deception outside of a surprise present/party is bad for a realtionship.

I don't get most of the non-exclusive realtionships(I know ussaly non-exclusive refers to sex but if it were me, it'd mean kissing and the like to becuase I'm jealous like that)

Also the resolution of beer in the face of stupidity is about the only real answer there is if someone not willing to listen to reason or try to understand a realtionship style different then their own.

DudeWheresMyLion [2014-06-30 02:05:50 +0000 UTC]

If you're just friends, I don't see the deal over it. I hug some of my female friends, give a slap on the butt and the occasional accidental boob-grabbing I'm straight with a boyfriend, but I doubt he cares if I just joke around with my friends. Now if I dated them and cheated on him, then yes, he could be mad at me and have every right. But it's just joking around and having a close-knit friendship and showing how close we are and that we trust each other to do those silly things without feeling weird. But I'd never cheat; I'm one of those "I'm committed to one and only one person." Plus I never feel "love" feelings and I'm rarely attracted to anyone.

But people don't need to freak out about sexuality so much. But I agree; no one becomes "more cuter" because of their sexuality. I think people press the topic of "love" way too far and dramatize it into so much, when to me it's just... meh.

Some people find it hard to grasp that friendships can entail kisses and things. While I do understand the concern of cheating, once it was explained that your girlfriend was fine with it, that lady kept going. Eech.
