Scar looked at Sarafina, who laid in their den. First he thought she would already sleep, but she opened their eyes immediately as Scar entered their sleeping place.She smiled softly and moved over to give Scar free place for sleeping next to her. But Scar stopped walking and just stared at her with his green eyes.
In his mind he had to admit that Sarafina was a very attractive lioness, maybe even the most beautiful lioness in the pride.
Sarafina felt that Scar looked her over. She was irritated and started to eye up herself. Was there something wrong with her? Maybe dirt from the last hunt?
Scar took a deep breath. Well, of course she wasn`t Zira, but therefor Sarafina was a very loyal lioness. She would never break up with him. Maybe to have a mate like her was not that bad for him.
"Is something wrong with me?" Sarafina interruped his thoughts, stille reviewing herself.
"Everything is perfect" he replied.
Sarafina looked up to him in disbelief of that what she had heard. Did Scar make her a compliment?
Scar came closer to her but didn`t lay down himself for fall asleep immediately as usual. To Sarafina`s surprise he started to nuzzle her, and tickle her neck and back with his tongue before he kissed her nose softly. Sarafina enjoyed the sudden caresses of her mate. "Nala overnight at Simba`s place." She said. Scar only smiled and continued kissing his mate`s body.

Definitely putting a different take on Scar, he can actually see the good things in other lions as well! Love it!!! And the way you did the shading here is amazing!

In every story he is a villain, for good reasons too, but this scene is so not...bad. Can we have one where he doesn't end up killing Mufasa, or doing some other terrible second, third thing?

Well then we wouldn't have a story that brings the crowd in...
Think about it, is a story of an alternate viewing of how a lion murdered his own brother in order to be king less interesting than a lion who is okay with his brother being a king, while he a prince the rest of his life and lives happily ever after? Then we'd have no theories and no plots at all.

Not necessarily, there could be other conflicts, and while Scar/Sarafina might not be happily married, they are learning to tolerate/care for one another. Zira is still an issue right now, and so, if Scar learned to appreciate and care for his present family, there's still Zira who is less than thrilled. Unless, Scar hasn't moved on at all and is just playing the dutiful husband right now. Zira could be leading up another group of female lions to attack Pridelands; she could kill Mheetu when he's a young cub and out of sight. There could be a growing animosity between Pridelanders and the Rogues (Zira) because of this; so many possibilities.

Agreed. Can't we just stop the story here and leave them happily forever after? Of course we can't! this the lion king with scar after all. Sadly there seems to be no happy end for him in the storyline, no matter what you do...

Well when Zira heard about sarafina and scar. Do you have any idea how angry and sad she was. I think she don't want to let scar to explain because i'm sure she thought he will only tell lies even i would believe that if that happened to me and it was scar fault that he didn't tell zira before he just risk to lose her.

She didnΒ΄t have any problem about hearing his plans about killing his own brother.
She didnΒ΄t complain either when he told her about waiting for him in a desert place while he was plotting against the true king.
IΒ΄m sorry, but I think if Zira could understand SkarΒ΄s reasons for comit fraticide, she also could understand his reasons for mating with a royal girl in order to improve his position in the pride.
ItΒ΄s only my opinion, but I would prefer cheating against murdering.
