Description
I DON'T KNOW WHERE ELSE TO PUT THIS THERE IS NO FASHION SECTION WHERE IS IT I CAN'T FIND IT AAAAAAHo hay gaiz, wat're u doin hur? o:
So I drew these for Fashion Design, like I do basically everything else anymore (ololololololol). They were both drawn from pictures in a magazine, though with the one on the left I took the pose from one photo and ref'd the gown from another.
The assignment was to draw a sheer garment on one figure and a shiny garment on the other. I don't think my chiffon came out too well. :\ (The one on the left, if you can't tell.) Also I changed the colours on both gowns; they were originally yellow (left) and deep navy blue (right). I believe the yellow was an Ungaro, but I can't remember what the blue was. :\ It's pretty, though. Silk taffeta an' all. <3
The right one reminds me of Jessica Rabbit, what with the red and the leg slit an' everehthang. 8}
I'onno. I kinda like 'em both. *tilts head*
Not too shabby for my first time using coloured pencils, eh? *eyebrowwaggle*

Thanks sweetie! The dress it originally came from was so freaking gorgeous, I really did not do it justice here. It was all flowy and chiffon-like. *siiiigghhhh* I love fashion, haha. XD

Well, thank you. (: And designing is surprisingly hard to do! A lot of people forget that half of it is drawing from other sources, though, and never forgetting your history - like any other art form! You work from other people's stuff to develop your own, including works of art, architecture, animals, nature, whatever inspires you! Plus the works of those who came before you, which you readily draw upon, especially when you're just starting out. Once you look at it that way it actually gets a whole lot easier. (:

No problem! But that actually makes a lot of sense... o 3o I never thought about it like that. xD But if I ever designed it'd probably be for costumes. The funkier the better! xD

YESSS COSTUMESSSS. My mom keeps nagging me to get into costume design. X) It's def. a hard business, though, unless you got the head for it. I'm sure you'd be pretty rockin' at it, actually. Just 'cause. (:

Dude I don't even care if I'd be good at it. I'd just have fun. "NEEDS MORE FABRIC" "They can hardly move." "Needs. More. Fabric. = ^="
I think you'd be awesome in costume design. You'd be so awesome to work with! xD

Well, I actually think it's hard to get into ANY business, but yeah, the creative/artistic fields do tend to be a bit "trickier," but mostly because I think they're so "unconventional"! Anyway it's a lot more worth it to work your butt off and end up being some cool artist-type than it is to work your butt off to sit behind a desk in an office all day, amirite? (: Most people wanna tell you being an artist is hard work, impossible to make a living at, and a very hard field to get into. I say, so are a lot of other things. I'd rather do something I love and almost kill myself for it. Don't let anybody take that away from you.
*getsoffsoapbox* Okay I am done. 8D
ROFL. That would be amazing. X) Haha, thanks hun! 8D I would happily work with you in that industry! 8D WE COULD BE COSTUME BUDDIES! <333

Iunno I think I'm a tad too young to be making decisions like this yet. x wx; I got time, but hopefully when I get older there'll be more stability in artsy jobs. Cuz I'd rather die than be stuck in a cubicle for the rest of my life y'know?

Haha, yup! 8D I still need to work on them but I definitely enjoy using them, especially when in conjunction with my markers; they make for very lovely top-shading and blending tools, especially to fix mistakes, haha. Oh and yes! These are all Prismacolor pencils; with a Prismacolor clear blender, no less! 8D

I need to get better paper. :<

SavvyPanda In reply to XxSushiNekoxX [2008-05-31 02:35:23 +0000 UTC]
I would definitely look up some of the coloured pencil tutorials on DA, a lot of them actually look really helpful. I learned most of the techniques I use (LOL if you can call them that) from my Fashion Illustration teacher. D: I dunno what your class availability is like, but if you can get some sort of in-person instruction, with demos and whatnot, that seems to be the best. My F.I. teach also taught us about how to use the markers and whatnot, which is where I gleamed my shade-with-gray-tones-under-the-colours-first technique, which I find very useful for getting shadows relatively quickly and easily. 8) Also, YES, definitely use the colourless blender, LIBERALLY. ON EVERYTHING. Well just the coloured pencils, really; I've found it to be relatively ineffective with the markers themselves. 8\ Definitely use the coloured pencils to add in shadow on top of your marker work, and then go back in with the colourless blender and blend the crap out of them; I've found this makes most of my work look a lot better, smoother, and with higher contrast. (:
ALSO YES GET SOME GOOD DRAWING PAPER. Preferably something that says "WET MEDIA" or "MARKERS" on the front; anything too flimsy won't hold up with the pens very well. :\ I uuuuuse...*runstocheck* Strathmore sketch, premium recycled paper; it's medium weight and "lightly textured." The paper's gotta have some texture to it, otherwise it's too smooth to work on. 8| At least, for me it is. Also I really like using recycled paper because it saves trees! : D *frolics*

Awww, well thank you so much sweetie! That really means a lot to me. ;; ~<3 And yeah, everyone who sees this tells me she looks like Tyra or asks if it's her, and what's funny is that it's actually not! But, I like Tyra, so I am pleased that it looks like her. 8) I'll just say that my love for Tyra subconsciously creeped into my thoughts while I was drawing this and expressed itself in the rendering of her face, haha.

Those ladies do look so hottttt. I like the blue/purple/violet one more. I think its the way you flowed the colors very smoothly together & I always loved that hip action you give them <3

SavvyPanda In reply to Yuzi [2007-10-29 02:10:43 +0000 UTC]
Haha, well thank you sweetums. 8) I have a thing with hips so I tend to make them a bit larger than they actually are. This is usually quite pleasing to me, only I'm running into trouble with slapping them on these skinnyass model figures we're supposed to be drawing. Long skinny legs + really bigass hips = not working. :\ Unless I slap a long, flowy dress on 'em like this, of course, then it works just fine. 8)
Oh and the purple one I did second, so I learned from the mistakes I made with the red one, heh. Still fucked it up a bit by stupidly outlining the central fold with my brush pen, but meh, accidents happen. I went over it with pencil and such to make it look less shitty, but it still bugs me. :\

Yuzi In reply to SavvyPanda [2007-10-29 07:11:47 +0000 UTC]
I actually like the brush pen strokes thats on the purple one <3 I guess since I'm so used to seeing the big bold lines on drawings that my eyes attrack to it right away when seeing a drawing or something :]
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SavvyPanda In reply to Yuzi [2007-11-04 02:34:16 +0000 UTC]
That's probably true for most people. I resisted inking the red one because I thought it stood well on its own and I really liked the way the coloured pencil works by itself, but when you put it next to the purple one you can really see how much bolder the brush pen makes things. Kinda makes me wanna go back and ink the red one, too. *strokes chin thoughtfully*

I AM A HUGE NERD: Design Interfaces -> Fashion -> General Fashion.
I like them - especially the purple one I'd wear it...and be HOT for once. haha, not really though. Be hot that is, not wear it. I'd totally wear it. The red one is a little reminice (I spelled it wrong, and I'm okay with that) of Jessica Rabbit

Oh and in the photo I took the purple one from (which was originally yellow, btw), the dress was actually worn by Angelina Jolie. Just thought that was a fun little fact since everyone seems to like that one the most. 8)

WELL THAT WOULD WORK except that DA is apparently dumb and doesn't have a General Fashion category, just a Fashion Design one? And since I cannot (unfortunately *tear*) lay claim to these designs, I'ma stick to my dumb little People category and leave it at that. <3 (BUT FOR FUTURE FASHION DESIGN REFERENCE, THANK YOU PUDDIN-PANTS <3)
ROFL. Oh Sherry, I'm sure you look hott pretty much all the time. And yeah, the red one TOTALLY reminds me of JR, probably mostly because I have her on the brain, but I mean, it does bear a striking resemblance to that basic sexy tubedress design: sleeveless, red, slit down the side. The wrapping and the ruffles at the top are just details. *waveshanddismissively*
