I completely agree with what you said. I'm a tough girl, I can handle it ; ).
In my opinion, if someone gives you a suggestion, from a different point of view and you don't explore it, well you're an ass haha. My problem is I look at something for so long that I don't know what to think anymore, feedback from fresh eyes is amazingly helpful.

The second cover works. I love the chocolate though but the legibility of the title is greatly affected. The consumer scans books on a shelf in microseconds, so your book cover needs to be able to fight the blur of all the other book covers fighting for the end user's attention.

Thanks so much for telling it like it is haha seriously much appreciated. In the end I chose the style of the blue cover,so that type was legible, but decided to go with the dark brown, so you were right on the money : )

Not a problem. I was hoping I weren't stepping on any toes.. I like it when people critique my stuff the same way because to me it's a learning experience. I'm surprised at how many delicate designers are out there that curl up into a ball and cry whenever someone points out something wrong. It's seriously lame because at the end of the day would you rather think you did good and then apply the same mistake to all your other works or would you rather know the problem or issue and learn from it? That's how I see it when it comes to constructive criticism. If I fuck up on my design, I'd rather know about it.
Coz that's how I roll. ;D
