I believe it's intentionally arbitrary, it's probably meant to be a reference to how the face of "Mammy Two Shoes" was almost never shown in old Tom and Jerry cartoons made by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. Sarah Bellum from PPG, or the parents from Cow and Chicken are other examples of such characters.

Yeah. But at least in "Cow and Chicken" made a joke out of it. Watch the pilot, as well as "Cow and Chicken Reclining". Though yeah, I understand your words. In fact, because their faces are never shown reminded me of "Cow and Chicken"

I did watch the "Cow and Chicken pilot" and "Cow and Chicken Reclining" years ago, so I know what you mean (in those episodes it's revealed the parents don't actually have upper bodies or a torso at all). Though on the other hand, "Halloween with Dead Ghost, Coast to Coast"seemed to suggest that they do have bodies above the belt line (via the clothing) so in "Cow and Chicken" it was more dependant on which joke worked for which episode.
Who knows maybe they'll turn that premise into a joke in "The Loud House", too, in future seasons? For now it seems they're going more with the Mammy Two Shoes, adults from "Peanuts" and Sarah Bellum approach, but we shall see what the future brings. Usually shows don't do that kind of experimental humour in their first season, except for shows that are full blown surreal in their premise from the start, like "Cow and Chicken" was of course.
