Description
Well, I actually tried a mix of Paint Tool Sai and GIMP. I gotta say, Sai's lineart is really good (Even if I messed up a bit), but the coloring... is making a new layer the only way to color? That was so time consuming, I just went ahead and colored in GIMP.So yes, first time using Sai, and it wasn't that bad actually. I do like how smooth the lines are.
Yes, I did use an image as a template to make lineart of. I wanted something simple to do first. But when I start making my own sketches, I'll try using Sai then.

To answer your question of making a new layer to color in PaintTool Sai,Β no you don't have to just sketch said picture of yours and select the magic wand tool, select the color difference mode and the spot you want to color should be highlighted.

Coloring isn't that bad.
When I make drawings, they start out with layer 1, then I use the create linework layer button, then draw using curves and straight lines if necessary.Β Whenever a circle type linework is done, I just use the magic wand tool, which I have mine set on transparency difference of 169, and set on Transparent (strict), then I color it in.
It is not that hard.
