aahh really? i used gimp before and got less than satisfying results XD i guess I just need practice. Thx for your help
oh and P.S two more questions...did you have your brush on multiply and the mode on RGB?? (again not trying to steak techniques)

hahah yeah practice makes perfect
I have the mode on RGB and the brush is set to normal, and the options I have clicked Pressure: size and I unclick the opacity box under Pressure.

one more question...how did you get the shadows??

A new layer of a slightly darker and duller color of the pelt color and setting it to multiply.
