This is a very exact 3d model of my bedroom. It's inside a cardboard box, as this is often how I feel when in here working for hours as a time. This has probably been one of my biggest 3d projects to date. It took 4 or 5 days to get this far, and probably about 50 hours of rendering. Previous betas and such can be found in my gallery. I'm very proud of this piece and would appreciate comments and feedback more than you can imagine.

Model produced in 3d Studio Max 4. Rendered with Brazil. 109,000 polys. 192 polys per thumbtack. Each render took between 6 and 8 hours.
Edit: Moved out of Unsorted section, not too sure about new location, doesn't seem to fit perfectly anywhere.

It looks absolutely wonderful. I love how much detail you put into it. I would like it even better if the objects had their own color or shade, but let's not nitpick about that. It's still a wonderful job.

Seems fine to me, it might be a TFT and CRT problem, it won't look as impressive and bright on a CRT, especially an old one. However, it should look fine to me and sbv20 (presuming he has a TFT screen).

is it? on my screen its light enough to get all the details. there is no lighting inside the box itself so it'll be darker than outside.

Actually, I don't know with what I could use this idea, maybe it will stay forever in the state of some sentences in a scrapbook. I wanted to use the idea of "someone living in a box", with a bed, a computer, books, etc. Maybe to write a short story about it. Don't worry, it's just a project for myself, I don't want to use it for commercial ends. Just a dark and depressive essay..

great work man. just wondering why it took u so long to render each image. the number of poly's arent that high and GI too shudnt have practically taken this long

i'm not sure. i think each image was 3600 by 2400, but rendered with antialiasing, so really it rendered 4 times that. the GI was also a high quality with 2 or 3 bounces and a very high view rate. and the computer was a P3 600 with, at best, 256 megs of SDRAM.

very nice piece, although i initially thought of more depth to the reason behind it 
not saying your room is crap and boring lol, its just the colour of this piece, and the fact its in a cardboard box
