I Live in a Box
Final release
--- --- --- ---
This is a very exact 3d model of my bedroom. It's inside a cardboard box, as this is often how I feel when in here working for hours as a time. This has probably been one of my biggest 3d projects to date. It took 4 or 5 days to get this far, and probably about 50 hours of rendering. Previous betas and such can be found in my gallery. I'm very proud of this piece and would appreciate comments and feedback more than you can imagine.
--- --- --- ---
Model produced in 3d Studio Max 4. Rendered with Brazil. 109,000 polys. 192 polys per thumbtack. Each render took between 6 and 8 hours.
Edit: Moved out of Unsorted section, not too sure about new location, doesn't seem to fit perfectly anywhere.

thank you very much for the high praise. the lighting, i am quite sure, was set the same betwee, shots. however, it appears brighter in the high frames because there is more area around the box visible, which is where the light is hitting most. it should be increased, though. thanks.

excellent modelling... I think it was good of you not to shade it, it would have detracted from the point of the render Great job

Wow man, this is intense... Have you considered making a textured version of this? I really like the dark and cold feeling of the image on the bottom, it very much feels like living in a box with a computer (not that I would know...).

More recently than this I have given texturing a good try. It is tedious and difficult, I don't think I will stick with it. Thanks for looking.

holy SHIZNAT, that is so COOLLLLLLLLL, i gotta say tho you have a pretty small room, but then again that does make it perfect for this kind of a concept, AWSOME work, well worth the time you put it IMHO, a +fav for me once again nice work

there are quite a few samples of global illumination in the scene. i think it was a reasonable render time. brazil is known to be one of the slower renderers, i think, but I can live with it.

holy god in heaven.. that is excellent............... 6-8 hours to render a single piece......... damn. those photometric lights and radiocity features can really hurt...the end product is well worth the pain!! i'm adding this to my favourite!!

This is such a well rendered piece! When I saw it originally in someone else's fave box I thought how cool it was of you to build minature furniture (or buy doll house furniture) spray paint it and create this. It wasn't until I got to your page read the description and gotten a better look at how clean this was that I realized it was 3D! It may have taken you some time, but the results are well worth it! Who hasn't felt like that at some time? Very well done ^_^
