I wish I had this as a pillow case! XD It's really calming, but has that sort of mind-f**k quality to it because it sort of makes my eyes dance. lol

This is really cool. Usually this type of flame repeats the same details across the visual space. Like a quilt, the differing squares and comparative dynamic really draws you in. Great job.

I love the multiplication grid effect where there is a diagonal line of four sided symmetry and all the 2 sided symmetries branching off of that.

It reminds me of a grid I saw in some paper about common patterns of molecular expression that make up the patterns of insects and the like. It also had some kind of grid where it would appear different waveforms would dissect each other (as they multiplied) to show an ever increasing complexity of patterning. This is.. almost exactly the same, taken to a much higher level... The only reason I talk about it is that perhaps just maybe you've also read this paper and can help me find the online .pdf version that I read ages ago. Yeah / Nah?

Back to the fractal though.. a few words come to mind. Mescaline is one of them... Divine Magical Tapestry are some others

Thanks for taking the time to examine the image in detail (It's cool to make something that is worth spending some time on) . I don't think I have read this particular paper, but there are a large number of papers on the subject of patterning in development. Do you remember in what context you read about this phenomena? It kind of sounds like you are describing interference of some kind (maybe the gap genes?). Anyway, I'd be interested in seeing the paper if you are able to find it. Also, I uploaded a 1920x1200 version that makes it a little easier to see the detail (just click the download button). Cheers

Thank you . This actually stemmed from a suggestion I got from Michael Faber about switching between different coordinate systems here . That and tweaking obsessively (I'm kind of addicted to this program) .
