How long did this take from start to finish? I want to get into the field (just starting) and am curious as to how many hours a project like this would entail. Very nice work.

It is relative to the complexity of the objects. The size of a map plays a much smaller role. Afterall, once you have locked up onjects eg:houses, trees and have a good terrain texture pool, it gets easy to build tons of different levels. Still requires careful planning though.
I would estimate this level at around 25-30 hours.
