Description
Ok this is something I have never done, and have been working on for awhile. I have developed this breed/race of unicorn/dragon hybrids. Not a direct cross, more of a 3/4 / 1/4 type thing. This is several generations later. Here is a bit more about their behavior and habits...Commonly called draconicorns (Equus draconicus).
A dragon/unicorn deravitive, they have reptilian eyes, elongated canines, cloven hooves, and of course dragon wings.
Draconicorns have a very high intelligence and communicate telepathically. They resemble large solitary felines in their behavior. These are NOT herd animals, they live alone, with stallions and mares coming together for a short time during breeding season.
They prefer mountainous terrian, above the treeline, which makes hunting easier. They have also been found to inhabit areas where mountains or cliffs border plains. A warlike race, the stallions each control a territory which they defend fiercely. These territories cover vast amounts of space and will overlap with the territories of several mares.
Highly prized as war mounts they will sometimes bond with a human or other humanoid, but this is rare and must occur at birth. The extremely protective nature of the mares makes this somewhat difficult though. Their gestation period is about 12 months, after which they produce one leathery shelled egg (rather like a crocodile or alligators) which hatches after an additional 6 months. Slow to mature, a foal will stay with its mother until it reaches sexual maturity, usually at about 5 years of age. At this point the young Draconicorn will leave to establish its own territory elsewhere to avoid inbreeding.
They generally come in primitive equine colors, i.e. brown dun, red dun, yellow dun, grulla, dunalino, perlino dun, etc, usually with primitive striping, and brindling is common. The dilutes (perlino dun and dunalino) are rare though.
They have profuse hair and feather, as well as a heavy winter coat to protect themselves from their harsh mountain environment.
They are omnivores, preferring small prey such as rabbits, large rodents, birds, young deer, sheep or goats. They hunt in a manner similar to eagles and hawks, attacking from the air and driving their prey to the ground, crushing it upon impact. They are not equipped to handle large prey, having no means of grasping it and no real shearing teeth to speak of. The prey must be of a size that can be fairly easily eaten in a few mouthfuls. They will browse on tender shoots and leaves, as well as ripened grain. Bonded Draconicorns are often fed meat that has been ground or cut into chunks as well as grains (preferably cooked) and vegatables.

u r a great horse drawer. Great detail. The reptilian eye is awesome looking. The dragon wings might need a bit of work but that is just my personal opinion. I love the idea of the species and coloring. Overall I think the horse part is almost the best one I have seen here on DA. Great job.

I like how you did the "old style" unicorn horn on him with the red, white and black. Makes him seem more ancient

Well, it's a Muse/MCR fic I've been working on for a while now. [link] Currently it's on hold because my coauthor seems to have disappeared from the earth...but I'm hoping to update it soon-ish.

*facepalm* I forgot. You need an account...sometimes they let you through, though...I'll just put it back up on Ficwad and give you a link. They're more lenient there.

I had a similar idea, though I haven't posted any of my pictures of it.. I have different invisionments, much different, but they're dragon x unicorns
One is a forest type dragon (small, lots of dead-tree type horns, no wings) crossed with an "ancient" unicorn (one with the two toes, goatee, lion-tail etc...), the next is a land dragon (no wings, lots of long, curved horns, long canines.) crossed with a more modern unicorn (more like a horse, with the traditonal unicorn tail), and the final design I had was a dragon breed I thought up, Aoce (slim build for very easy and quick flight, specially designed wings for maximum air catch, a few horns here and there, but mostly for defence) crossed with a completely modern unicorn (with a horse tail and and a bit of feathering).
It's really neat to see how two such similar ideas can come out so different Of course, I can see it much better than you can, since I haven't yet posted my versions of dragon x unicorns due to my computer and scanner not being with me...
But still, it's really cool.
