This shoot wasn’t exactly my easiest. But not because of the models. Well not entirely.. Their schedules limited them to a mid morning – afternoon shoot. The worst time of the day. I had originally wanted a late afternoon-sundown shoot. So besides having the harshest sunlight you could get, it was also hot as hell. I mean it was effen hot. This was in the middle of August mind you. In Florida. You couldn’t stand to be in the sun for more then a few minutes. The sun literally sucked the energy right out of you. And I had no help.

The models would sneak in the air conditioned house for about 5 -10 minutes while I repositioned my lights. I had a large area to cover with the cars, so it wasn’t no simple task. I had to reposition things over and over because the lights ended up in the shot. After 5 minutes of each setup, I was already spent. But I couldn’t break long, I had to finish before the models had to leave. So I was in a rush. A quick drink of water and back out with the models. Shot with them for another 10 minutes each. Then to the next setup. I had 4 cars to shoot with 2 models. By the end of the shoot I starting to feel sick from working in the sun so long. But I still wasn’t quite done. One more shoot to go…

Trying to fight the sun and the schedule, I really didn’t take the care with the setups that I wish I could have. I had these setups in my mind I wanted to do but time just wouldn’t allow. So I just had to shot enough to get it done.

Overall I think they turned out decent. Looking through them all I found mistakes I made. Wish I could have had more time and less sun, but that’s the way it goes. I’ll have to save that for the next shoot.

By pp do you mean Photoshop?

Mostly just to remove all the dripping, shinny sweat. The strobes were powerful enough to combat the sun and keep everything in exposure. So those are the actual clouds, trees, and everything else. I may have removed a few highlights off the Mustang, but other then that, that's what was there in the shot. I can even see my extension cord to one of my lights running across the background.
