I still don't like how it scanned, and i tried a bunch of different settings, but it still doesn't like to show the differences between fairly close blue colors or pastels.**EDIT**
Since this image proves to still be quite popular, I'd like to point you all over to this [link] which is the same image, colored digitally(Lyra using a brush, Bon Bon using Airbrushes). It was an experiment when i first got my tablet, and I still think it came out pretty well.

From what iv read around the web, they were put next to each other in show because they looked good next to each other, then the fandom pretty much universally agreed they are lesbian.
Someone some where wrote a fic about it, then someone else [prob on the dev team] saw the fic and they stopped appearing with each other for the rest of the season, then reappeared together in the comic con poster [sujesting] they are intact a lesbian couple.
Look at Steven Magnets tail and Octavias cello making a heart shape. Right below that is Lyra and Bon-Bon

Realistically? Probably not. But half the fun is in what the fans have made them. Either way, i think they're cute together.
