Description
I actually finished this a few months ago, havent't uploaded a pic to DA till now.Its the completed Combat Cross from Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, wielded by Gabriel Belmont.
PVC piping as a base, with cardboard and hotglue for the designing. And yes, the chain does come out, but it doesn't launch out nor does it retract.
This weapon, I loved in the game. But holding this in real life made me realize that its pretty brutal.
I will cosplay Gabriel Belmont, not sure when though.

That's amazing! Playing with it in the game felt so powerful and your recreation of the cross looks like it would up hold the same amount of power. Amazing job!

I am crafting a Combat Cross for a cosplay. I have an Idea for the Retractible whip, consisting of a retractible USB cable and the chain from a Halloween costume style flail. It is attached in the hilt and the button to pull it back in very near the bottom, attached to the chain which would be pulled back in by this. The only issue I am having is that the bladed end made of wood would be too heavy. Any suggestions? I was thinking of making it of cardboard and folded (And painted) paper. Hit me up oon Facebook Stephen Wood-Vorndam or here.

Well, if you are going with a leather whip route, I can see where you are going with this... But the retractable part is going to be tricky. I understand that style of retractable USB cords, but that brings up the question of finding a big and strong enough one for to retract a whip like such.
If you do figure out a good method, even if its either just shooting it out a bit of even helping with retraction, I'm all ears. I'm not much of an engineer in this respect.
As for the tip, if you have a mechanism strong enough for a whip, a wood tip should be good. As long its not a wood with high density.
I've been pretty busy as of late, but if you want, I too can be hit up on FB. facebook.com/marluxia.tepes

It has a chain, yes, and it goes into body with the tip latching in with magnets (link: [link] ). But there isn't a fancy mechanism that does it automatically...

Yeah. I don't really have engineering/mechanical skills to make a contraption like that. If you want to try to make one, good luck have fun with it!

Do you have the dimensions for this? I found many ref. pics and have a decent idea of the size. I'm going to try and create one myself.

I've changed my mind on the prop, I'm going to try and make the title book when you would start up the game. I know how to make a book
more than I know about making a prop weapon. Combat cross second.
